the classic look : terracotta planting pots

Well, just like everywhere else, spring was all, “SIKE, SUCKAS!” even here in the tropics, and I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m kind of ready to get into our back yard and make it lovely again with some simple arrangements. Nothing says classic garden like the terracotta pot. I just love their simple design, easy going look, and their versatile availability.

There’s probably a million ways you can skin it, with the arrangement and the finish, whether it be simple, or embellished with an additional element…but when it comes down to it, a simple terracotta pot is one of the best household staples one can own.

Waxing nostalgia at it’s finest: from spring season’s dirt cakes , a thoughtful housewarming gift filled to the brim with goodies, or the wonder of elementary school, and watching that first green sheath peek through the ground…clay pots are kind of awesome.

But my mind has been on a garden with charming additions and spring with its simplistic beauty…and the basic clay pot is definitely a nice way to go, with layers of fun plants, and simple arrangements.

Of course I’m swooning over the ones above (The scratchier the better)

Break out the earthworms…I’m feeling quite inspired to get my hands dirty. How about you?

What’s your favorite spring gardening/yard accessory?

HURRY UP, SPRING!

I am itching, too, but I will just have to keep from scratching until May or June. I always love watching all you southern bloggers get your gardens ready two months before me…gives me lots of time for gathering inspiration! :)

I can't WAIT for the weather to warm up here! Seriously have the FEVA.

Oooh… The striped one at the bottom is fab! I wanted to milk paint some terra cotta pots last year, but I couldn't find milk paint anywhere in the Lou.

I really love big, giant ceramic pots, but I kill everything, so it's silly for me to keep spending money…
