the one where I bit off more than I could chew…& some fabulous eye candy in the meantime

I know. I know. We’ve been quiet over here the last few days.

Why? Quite honestly, I bit off more than I could chew.

Much more. In classic Smashley fashion. {that was for you, Layla. ;) }

The primer, the paint, the cabinets, the wainscoting, the fridge, the floors…all of it…kind of looks like a bomb went off over here. And that’s totally okay, because it’s just part of the process. But Jamin and I together, have put about 35 hours of work into this puppy, and there is still a LOT more to go. Just to give you a little preview as to where I’m at: Today, when we were putting the doors back in place, and I was looking around at all the touchups and the little projects that still need to be done, I called it quits and went to lay down for a nap. I never call it quits. I honestly had to take a mental health moment. I think I’m all kinds of hormonal and exhausted, and totally hyped up on some serious paint fumes, because I kind of freaked out over a couple of completely manageable and unavoidable drip marks that I found, so I opted to lay down instead. So just know, when you come back and look at this project, that I had a moment. And then I confessed it.

Did I mention it’s been crazy over here?

But, as we all know, the process will be well worth it in the end!

Unfortunately, we can’t show it to you for a few more weeks, because as it turns out, the sink is a bit of a monster, so it’ll be a while before we can get the adequate and most wonderful help needed to install such a beast. {read: professional help, because we’re big DIY-ers but when it comes down to it, we wanted to do it right, and a fabulous-beyond-words plumber friend has agreed to help us out. (huge relief)} And a few other elements thrown into the mix will delay it a little…but stay tuned. Good things come to those who wait. We promise to make it worth it… with some fun little posts in the meantime.

Speaking of in the meantime, here are two fabulous posts that really caught my eye this week. I wanted you guys to check out, if you haven’t seen it already…

1. This incredible furniture redo from twice lovely: {TOTALLY inspired for the boy’s room this summer!-you’ll feel quite inspired, I do believe.}

2. And… reader Yarnista totally left left this little jewel of a link in my comments section a few short days ago. I was FREAKING out when I saw it. Because, obviously, all things kitchen are on MAH BRAIN, check out this fabulous redo over there! She did a wonderful job, and I’m particularly DROOLING over this piece in particular…I might come over to her house and steal it…just sayin…{That’s her photo above…check it out!}

And the kitchen: {click on the link to see more!} MAD props to you guys!

Here’s to hoping all of you had a nice fabulous RESTFUL non project-filled weekend. I’m honestly surprised Jamin and I are still married, but we’re gonna make it! ;) We’re to the halfway mark. Yep. That’s right. I said halfway. Only 40 more hours to go!

See you back here Monday! {tomorrow. ha. face. keyboard. zzzzzzzzzzzz.}
