First things first: happy 11.11.11 everyone! Yes, I am easily humored. Today’s topic: Thankfulness.
From families and loved ones, and the simplest privilege of breathing every day, and cherishing the little things… we all have so much. This season is an important one to take note of…I enjoy savoring the purpose of Thanksgiving. The holiday that makes us take the time to reflect, and appreciate. {I secretly resent the stores that have christmas decor up before August. Just sayin.}
I loved this quote on being thankful, and decided to create a little printable you can use…whether its part of a center piece, seasonal decor, little happies for your dinner guests, or a simple year round kind of reminder for yourself…And how blessed we all really are.
And a new tradition I’ve started this year with our children, is creating a thankful tree.
We collected some twigs out of the back yard from Bertha {the man eating pecan tree} and put these “leaves” on them, with pictures, or words about what they’re thankful for, on the backside.
Simply punch holes in the top of the leaves, and attach them to the twigs, or with twine. If you’d like to make your own, I have some leaves available to download, just for you.
Simply click & download {make sure you have the latest version of adobe reader} print, and cut. TADA! Insta decor / original illustrations. {Look for Thanksgiving art + Leaves 1 + 2 on the downloads page.}
A fun way to decorate for the Thanksgiving season!
Art Print + leaves print on an 8 x 10, but feel free to adjust.

Quite a few of you have sent in your photos of these illustrations in action, and I want to feature some soon. Make sure you send them my way. I love to see where they’re used in your home, so let me know!
Happy Friday everyone!

LOVE this idea! I think I might do this with my son 🙂 We don’t really have a Thanksgiving tradition & this would be perfect! Hey, are your walls in the picture above wood panel painted alternate colors or did you just do stripes with paint?
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey Jessica! That is siding. It’s our veranda, where we built a wall, and it was once our back porch, so we had easy guides for stripes. 😉 It’s now inside.

Great post. I am making a thankful tree this weekend. We are going through a little “wakeup call” at the moment and I spent the evening thinking about all the things we have to be thankful for. Having a tree with leaves representing each thing we have to be thankful for will be a wonderful thing to see every day because it will have lots of leaves. Thanks, you are my angel today.

I love the leaves and print. My mom has been doing a thankful tree for several years now, but she usually laminates reals leaves to use. On Thanksgiving, everyone gets a leaf and write what they are thankful for and then shares with everyone. They are saved, and put on the tree the next year. Its a great way to remember what was happening each year by what people are thankful for.

I adore this print! Thank you for this free beauty!
Also, I just LOVE that pillow with the aqua ruffley trim. Did you make that? If so, can I have some details on that trim?
-Love and sparkles

We’re on the same page today! Just did this project with my preschool class and posted on the blog last night. Happy to see so much gratitude floating around the blogosphere!

I love all of your style boards and graphics. They are fab! Do you do them yourself? Would you consider a tutorial of any kind? Man, I would love to learn how to do some cute stuff like that!

***on another note…the striped pillow, what is that fabric??? I think it might be one I have in my cart @ fabric.com, but didn’t realize it had the texture…dying to know!

Love the tree! Such a wonderful idea, I’ll have to keep it in mind for next year.
On a side note, what color paint is the aqua you used for the stripes on the wall? It’s the exact shade I’m looking for Baby’s nursery:)
Thanks!
