arrows!

Arrow is the new chevron is the new stripe is the new plaid is the new solid.

Okay. Not really. But I thought I would swerve {dangerously so far that it was almost into oncoming traffic} off the beaten path of Christmas posts today and share a little inspiration in honor of the approaching new year. It was also fun to confuse myself make a complicated statement about trending elements. But ever since this post last week, which was really inspired by a random decor moment in ‘The Green Lantern’ when I was able to peel my eyes off Ryan Reynolds checking out the decor in the background…I noticed a giant arrow in the back corner of his living room that resembled a smaller repo of this amazing retro americana landmark:

Be sure to click here if you’re anything like me and LOVE old cars and anything vintage route 66. You won’t be sorry. {One day I will score my gigantic ‘Pure’ sign. I’m STILL on the hunt for that one…} So today, I thought I’d share a few items that may make some unique gifts, decor for your own home, and DIY projects once you’re ready to get to them and the crazies have died down. A diversion from the rush, if you will.

Arrows are one of the most simple of all symbols. Probably, if you’re anything like me, one of the first you learned to draw. I adore it for many reasons, and I’d love to see their simplicity used more in home decor. They can integrate fun color, and are a great way to bring in some real unexpected personality to a space. So in honor of a post that may have been better suited for Valentine’s day…Hurray for Arrows!

Click over here for a clever use of storage with literal arrows.

I love them as signs, and I’m not so sure It’d be so hard to make your own version…

Still drooling over this one and this. It cracked me up that it’s described as ‘farmpunk.’ I think I’ll start using that to describe my style. Cottage Glam + Vintage Industrial…and let’s not forget Eclectic Farmpunk.

Want to make make your own? I most definitely love this idea.

Again, pretty simple to make, and perfect for parties when you’re not using it every day in your home!

My lil sis is getting married this spring, and I love the idea of this for the outdoors.A cute little gift idea!

This one almost has a paper mache kind of look.

How fun would this look be for a boys’ room?

This fabric is a nice alternative to chevron. And of course, I love the color.

Not necessarily for the home, but it can adorn your neck!

This one takes the light up version to the next level. From forgotten gas station sign to carnival. Yes, please.

If you want to add a touch without going over the top, this pillow serves as a nice option.

This mug needs me to drink my morning joe out of it. Daily. And if you think the outside is cute, wait til you see the inside.

This wallpaper is really different, but really fun.

If mixed in with the right pieces, this table would be amazing for a little guy’s study area.

I’m stretching it, and it is more of an arrow/stripe/chevron hybrid, but I couldn’t leave it out. Yes.

Easy to do!

Salvaged pieces are the neatest. I could build an entire room around this arrow.

Still don’t know what to get your sister for Christmas? Or what to place on that blank wall that’s become a looming menace in your life? I hope this post made you realized the arrow of your ways.

Wow. That was bad. Time to call it a day! Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you feel inspired! Where could you integrate this simple shape for a bit of fun in your own homes?

updated: totally just stumbled across this one. Incredible. I am drooling.
