fresh paint

When we finished our stencil project a couple of weeks ago, for a few days the room smelled super fresh. You know…like paint and stain. Not overwhelming-give-you-a-nasty-headache-over-the-topness… just fresh. And I realized how comforting those smells are to me. There’s nothing quite like a new project! When I was little, my parents purchased a house, and I was with them one day while they painted. For some reason, that’s one of my favorite smells in the world to me…fresh paint.

I receive this question a lot, but I do all of the paintings you see in our home. It’s my absolute favorite thing in the whole entire world. And then I realized…it’s been over a year since I’ve broken out those oils. Why? Life. I’d like to say I’ll set aside some weekends in the future…and eventually I will. But for now my hours are consumed with these wonderful things called family, school, tee ball, dishes, laundry…you know. So all in good time.

if anyone knows the original source, that would be greeeaaaatttt

In the meantime, I thought I’d share a few images that have me completely inspired, and itching to paint. Whether it’s composed of beautiful strokes, color, a great composition, or part of a wonderful interior that adds that beautiful ‘pop’ to the room {definitely an added bonus}. I thought I’d share a little inspiration with you today.

I just love the effect a wonderful piece of art can have on a space. I think it only enhances, and enriches it, whether it’s a simple print of a favorite artist, or something you’ve created on your own. It definitely creates meaningful rooms. I adore the fact that each piece can have a story. Enjoy the eye candy and have an inspired day!

I love love original artwork – esp. paint on canvas. It is the one thing that I’ll spend alot of money on!

  4. That huge Barbara Berger painting is so great! Her house is filled with her own art and it makes the space so personalized (and beautiful)! That is my goal one day, but for now I’m running around with the boys and there aren’t enough hours in the day!

Love, love, love almost every one of those paintings. The first one is like the most sophisticated box of crayons spilled out. The cow is fabulous. I don’t care for the painting in the turquoise bathroom but the color on the walls is art enough for me. I could paint my entire house that color. All time fave. I love the next pic too, especially the fabric on the little pillow on the couch. So interesting. The original source for the painting of the lady with the umbrella is here: http://www.kathryntrotterart.com. She has several others done in a similar style. That particular one is a set of three and I believe they are all sold :(
