teenage mutant ninja turtles + a scotts spreader giveaway

This is a sponsored post written by The Handmade Home on behalf of Scotts®. All opinions are 100% ours.

Jamin here today, and in honor of yard work and all things Saturday, I’m hijacking the site. But I promise I will give it back to Ashley soon.

The last time I hijacked our site, I shared how to build a loft , and confessed I was no expert. It’s all about the right tools, and a little knowledge to accomplish what you want.

So, it’s confession time again: I took a horticulture class at Auburn University and I totally scored an ‘A.’ That ‘A’ translated to an ‘F’ when I got my first big boy lawn to take care of. I couldn’t figure out when to fertilize, or what to use. I couldn’t ever open those ridiculous bags. Seriously, are they made with some type of space plastic? And what am I supposed to do with the leftover stuff? I once fertilized our neighbor’s yard (yeah, I’m that guy, and there is a protocol for safe disposal of said fertilizers ) because I couldn’t stand the idea of an open bag of fertilizer just sitting in our garage. I could just see one of the kids diving head first into it, thinking it was some weird new candy daddy brought home. (I know. Overactive imagination.)

So I did what any self-respecting suburban dad does. I called the local lawn care company and wrote them a check to make all my problems go away. This, of course, all in an effort to prevent my children from eating the aforementioned open fertilizer, or turning my lawn into this.

(BTW,welcome to the SEC Missiouri!)

So when Scotts contacted us, and asked us to partner with them in letting everyone know about this amazing new Scotts® Snap® Spreader System I literally jumped at the chance.

Scotts is sending us one for a test driveand is even being so kind as to offer one to one of our lucky readers.

Want to win?

All you need to do is leave a comment here about why you want one, and then go like Snap Perks on Facebook (see official contest rules here)

The Scotts snap spreader is amazing, because it’s a no mess, no guess system. You don’t have to break out your Crocodile Dundee knife and slash maliciously at space plastic to open it, it connects directly to the spreader, and when you’re done…wait for it…it self seals. (What???? Seriously??? Will it scoop the dog poop, too??)

It even auto sets to the proper flow rate, which is good because I typically just guess. ;} Not only that, but it has an edge guard to keep the fertilizer on the place you want, not thrown all over the driveway to wash away into the city sewer system and further mutate the Ninja Turtles.

I digress…but I will be hijacking the blog again soon after our new spreader arrives, to let you know how it performs.

  11. I “liked” on FaceBook. This is one of those times when I’m as excited about learning about a product as I am about a giveaway. Even with the economy getting better, I’m too poor to pay a lawn service this year (Sorry, True Green!). I’ve always made a mess when I tried spreading myself, so this looks like the answer that will solve my problem. (P.S.; I STILL would like to win! Thanks for the chance!)

  12. Patty Stogsdill says:

I would love to win! Due to my struggles of arthritis and my general health, working full time I have not kept up with the yard. I currently have 3 lawnmowers, only one works (when you can keep the wheel on), and with the drought we experienced recently the yard is now overgrown with weeds! Tons of weeds!! It has now been raining so much of which we are thankful for! I would love this Scotts Fertilizer Snap and Go system, that I would put it to good use. It would also make a great birthday gift to myself, since the contest ends on my birthday.
++btw, I did “Like” Snap Perks on Facebook! Thanks for the chance to win :)

  46. Ashley S. says:

Oh my goodness! This is definitely needed at my house!

  47. Sally JWh says:

What? I haven’t seen this yet. I came to your site through pintrest looking for ideas for window boxes. HMM…. As a golf course superintendent, I always get asked “what tips can you give me for my yard?” I usually send them to the hardware store for scotts products because they are user friendly and have a somewhat dummy-proof program for the entire year. Then, I lend them MY spreader and let them experiment, offering tips/help along the way. I think I will have to check this product out, it looks way easier than trying to tell people how to calibrate before you spread the fertilizer. Interesting. I’m heading to “like” their fb page now to find more information! Thanks for telling us about it~!

We are very fortunate to have a home on a corner lot.. that comes with a lot of grass! My hubby works very hard, he also volunteer coaches kids in soccer with games on the weekend. Being a “Scot” born and bred, he is a naturally a little tight with his cash and insists on doing all the yard jobs himself.. yesterday he took down two 45-50 feet palm trees, with the help of a friend !
This Scott spreader will certainly save him some precious time on the weekend .. thanks for offering this fabulous equipment..
    Have a great weekend
