tiny little ant villages

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts®. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hey guys! Jamin dropping back in again, with an update on our experience with the new Scotts® Snap®

First things first though, Scotts has extended the giveaway until 4/30, so don’t forget to go here to register to win your own system. Also, don’t forget they’re giving away more cool stuff on Snap Perks on Facebook

We may have mentioned before, that our motto is ‘just go for it.’

But I’m here today to confess, once again, that until recently that wasn’t entirely true about our outdoor space. We kind of do everything else ourselves, but we don’t really do our lawn.

When Scotts® contacted us about the Scotts® Snap® Spreader System, it gave me the tool I needed to say bye-bye to the professional lawn guy, and hello to simplicity in caring for our lawn.

What Scotts® promised, was exactly what I needed.

Using the system could not have been any easier. When opening the bag, there was no need to worry about making a mess for little hands to find later, because you literally just set the bag on the system, and flip a switch. How cool. Storing it is just as easy. No need to worry about what to do with it, just flip the switch again, take it off, and set it aside. No mess!

The design of the system is sleek and lean, and slides in nicely to a confined space. If needed, the handle will even fold down for low profile storage. This is great in my not-so-organized-garage. {No worries. That’s a future post. “The Man Cave part Deux. Reclaiming the garage.”}

The system is a little bit of a time saver, too. Not only is the adding and removing of the product so easy, but it also contains an edge guard to keep pellets off unwanted areas. There’s no need to go behind and sweep the stray pellets off the unwanted area, which is always a pet peeve of mine, even with the professional lawn guy.

So, of course the obvious question: What did I use my system for if I have a lawn guy? It just so happens that even with a lawn guy, our back yard needed a little help. I had already decided to spread some grass seed and put down some sand to give our yard a little boost. I took this chance to use the Snap® Spreader System,  to spread a little fertilizer and help the grass. But here’s the icing on the cake for the system. After spreading all that sand, it only took about a day for me to realize something was amiss in the yard…..ants! It was like Christmas to these little guys and ant villages were popping up all over the yard. These guys had won the sand lottery. I knew that if I didn’t do something I’d be over run by ants and carried off like a leftover hot dog at a Sunday picnic.

I dreaded having to go buy the ant poison, and then take the time to search out each of these new little villages. As I walked the local home improvement store, there it was like a beacon calling out in the night: Scotts made an ant bait for the new spreader. It was glorious to snap that bag on, do a quick run through of the yard and be done with it, problem solved. No scouting party for new ant villages for the next two weeks necessary.

Next on the list is making the call. The one to the professional lawn guy. I might buy him a parting gift. I wonder how he would feel about a snap spreader system of his own?
