Happy Monday, everyone! It’s our favorite: font snob day at The Handmade Home-where we all take a stand against poorly designed, horribly overused, wretched little fonts that simply shouldn’t exist. Hurray!
If we seem like snobs, it’s because we are. ;} And if you have no idea what we’re referring to, just be sure to clickety click on our past posts…and revel in our obsessive over the top distaste for all things in the way of comic sans. Yeah. We know. We’re so awful.
So in the meantime, in the way of awesome products for the font snob enthusiast, we’ve found some magnets that are right up your alley: this fabulous alphabet is fun on the fridge…and they’re tastefully done in a simple font + grown-up stainless steel finish. This way, your kids can be snobs too. Spread the snobdom.
This project is super fun for those things around the house that require that accurate look in your replication of fonts. As I’ve said before, fonts in art, are like faces and hands…one wrong move and the entire look is changed. This fabulous project gives you a perfected look for a modern canvas project. Perfect for a gallery wall! And I think you could use it in more ways than one…Let your font snobiness shine!
And for a few of you who recently asked me for a few tips for working with fonts…it’s truly hard to narrow it down. Our design courses began with the in depth study of typography in school, and it truly is an art. Thus the passionate dramatical lashout towards poor, helplessly sad fonts. Here are just a few simple rules of thumb we follow, to keep our designs simple, and avoid bad font useage:
And finally, what you’ve been waiting for: We’re such a snobs, that its hard to compose 25 worthy fonts…repeatedly…so we’re branching out. But these were well designed + fun! Enjoy!

Wow, these are really so cool and free?? Would you possibly be able to provide step by step instructions as to how to download these and actually use them? I tried this several years ago and was NEVER able to figure it out and actually use them. I am a computer bomb and nothing comes easy to me. Not even knowing when to save or run, zip or unzip, where to put them….you name it, I screw it up! Could these be put into Word and PS? I know I am lame, but I would love a literal 1,2.3 step explanation! Thanks for helping if you can and have the patience;)!

Hey Mary! It’s different for everyone who wants to load their fonts, depending on the program/type of computer they use. Have you tried searching? Here’s directions for a mac, and here’s directions for a PC. I hope that helps!

When you download these, do they put viruses on your computer?? Because I really would like to download some (well, maybe all) of the fonts.

Grazia, I test out all the fonts before I use them in a post. I also only link to seemingly reputable sites. I have a mac, though, so the risk is less for me. As far as I know, there are no viruses. I naturally can’t guarantee that though…so I guess use at your own risk? Sorry I’m not more help!

I make hand stamped jewelry so I purchase steel stamps to make my pieces with. I’ve been wanting a custom font that no one else had and about 2 months ago I decided on Murray Hill. I placed the order, which was several thousand dollars and then I saw them all over Etsy and my heart sank because I wanted something different from everyone else. Long story short, I stopped the order and I was having a terrible time finding another font that I liked as much as Murray Hill then I saw your post!! I get them from Infinity. I know I’ve told you before how much I love these posts, but I need to say it again. It’s like having a personal shopper for my fonts. And since I will never be able to afford a personal shopper for my clothes, this is like the next best thing! š

First, thanks for posting so many cool fonts. I’m always looking for fonts I haven’t seen before or styles I hadn’t realized I was lacking! You have very good taste.
Second, the Font Snob Club has proven to my husband that at least I am not alone in my crazy obsession with fonts. I feel like I have found my people.
