the hunted interior

Hey there, lovely friends! Boy, are you in for a real treat today!

We have a few super fun additions coming to The Handmade Home. Think of it as a little enrichment in your daily fun with us here! We will get a little more into that as we move along, but today I want to talk about one that I am super thrilled about. And you are going to love it.

Confession : I only read a few blogs. (GASP!) I know. For shame. But they’re my absolute favorites. When you run one full time, or work full time, or just keep up with your kids full time (I’m sure you can relate) it’s kinda hard to keep up with it all. The first time I met Kristin I was sitting across from her in her husband’s incredible restaurant at Haven last year. We chatted briefly, and then I went home and decided to stalk her look her up. And I never stopped stalking reading since. I guess I’m creepy like that. ;} the_hunted_interior

This chick had me at incredible green chests with giant tassels. She’s also been known to feed my mirrorball addiction.

mirrorballI was absolutely hooked. Kristin has an incredible amount of moxie and style and that full-on bravery that I just admire in a gal. If she lived near me, I’m pretty sure we’d spend all of our days chatting about light fixtures, and creating something crazy out of gold tape and wooden slices. The laundry would never be done. (Oh wait. That happens anyway) Sounds promising, yes?

Kristin will be a regular treat on our site, and I just can’t wait for you to meet her. So I’ll shut my trap now, and let her do the talking. Without further ado…

Well first things first, I am from the south & we must start with a proper introduction.  My name is Kristin Jackson & I write over on my side of the blog world at The Hunted Interior.  Much like Ashley & Jamin my husband & I like to build our world around us.  If we can’t find it, we make it.  Most of the times it is a success, but not always.  My hubs prefers to be more of the silent type though, so he can be a bit like Where’s Waldo when it comes to photos.

The Hunted Interior came about after I had our darling little girl, Chloe.  I left a position where I was designing hotels all around the world.  So after a year of diapers, Mickey & more diapers I needed a creative outlet.  Mickey Mouse was just not enough for me…

I started the blog with mostly images I found all over the web & was thrilled that 30 people were reading it!  It wasn’t until we attempted our first real project (our headboard) that we fell in love with really Doing It Yourself.

We have completely taught ourselves about tools, paint & sewing along the way.  And each project turns out better than the last thanks to our learn by experience education.  If you would have told me 2 years ago we would be building furniture like our Live Edge Table , I would have laughed in your face.  But now I see something in a magazine & think to myself “We could totally do that!!”

My design philosophy is to hunt the world around you with an open mind.  Yes, this broke down hutch on the side of the road might be garbage to everyone else, but with a little TLC the loveless can become lovely!

Or that bent up little brass bowl at Goodwill… others may see junk.  I saw a light fixture.

I love to rethink the ordinary & recreate high end looks on a #reallife budget.  It’s kinda my thing.  Big things are about to start happening over the next few months so I’d love for you to follow along this crazy little journey with us.

Plus, I will be contributing for my favorite Blogger Duo The Handmade Home (so you are kinda stuck with me.)  Well, at least once a month.  Thanks again to Ashley & Jamin for inviting me aboard.  I can’t wait to share more of our crazy ideas with y’all.

Isn’t she inspiring? Don’t you want to go to her house and sit down and take it all in? I certainly do! Catch the rest of Kristin’s spaces, here. Follow along with her adventures on Facebook, here. And tweet away, here.

I certainly look forward to the amazing eye candy inspiration she’ll be bringing us in the future ;} Have an inspired day, y’all!
