lunchskins + a fabulous giveaway

Updated: Annnndddd… We have a winner! Congratulations, Melissa! And a special thanks to Lunchskins for their generous giveaway! ;}

Hello lovely friends + Happy Earth Day!

We’re super excited to talk about a little partnership that goes hand in hand with something we’re completely thrilled about. But in lieu of Earth Day, here are a few statistics.

Did you know that the total number of plastic bags used worldwide annually is 1 trillion?

Total number of plastic bags used every minute : 1 million

Total number of years it takes for a plastic bag to degrade : 1,000 years.

Total amount of plastic bags that were discarded in 2008 : 3.5 million tons.

Total amount of plastic floating in every square mile of ocean : 46,000 pieces.

These are just a few of the plastic waste statistics you can find here. And I don’t know about you guys, but this makes me sad. I feel like our little family can do a bit more to pitch in. We’re leaving this world behind one day, but I want to ensure it will be a slightly better place for my little citizens, and that we’ve done all we can.

Enter Lunchskins. When they contacted us about their amazing + stylish product, we were all in. Fun bags to promote healthy eating all while helping the environment? Yes please. We were in, and we’re honored to be part of the LAB.

From their site: lunchskins

Their bags are not only absolutely adorable (design snobs unite in a most appreciative manner). They’re food safe + dishwasher friendly. Keeping your lunches, snacks, and to go food fresh until you’re ready to use them.

Yep. dishwasher friendly. Winning.

I think we can all use a little simple in our lives when it comes to reusable, eco friendly products, especially when striving for better, healthier foods for our families.

Lunchskins bags come in a variety of sizes : The sandwich, snack and sub bags are available at your local lovely Target. They come in some of the fabulous flavors you see here, and you can view all their savvy designs, here. (Our kiddos have already placed dibs on “their baggies”.)

Lunchskins 2 bags are available to purchase in (absolutely adorable) matching sets for sandwich and snack sizes. Starting in July, if you head to Target for some back to school goodies and stock up on Lunchskins, you guys may see a few familiar faces when you purchase your own sets complete with tips from us and some fabulous bloggers! ;}

From fresh bread, fruit, veggies, almonds and everything in between, our family is already in love. And this may sound silly, but it was actually easier to pack their lunches this morning. I’m not kidding. I wasn’t fiddling with plastic and it was faster. It’s always the little things with me. I guess I’m easily humored.

On the go or just around the house, it’s just a great way to serve up some fresh goodies!

I love the green pear design! These are so cute and such a good idea. We use plastic sandwich bags now and I would love to replace them. I never thought about how many get trashed every day.

  2. Molly Richardson says:

My 1st grader takes lunch to school everyday (and next year I’ll have 2 in school)!! I always try to use reusable containers whenever I can but sometimes they are bulky and don’

My family and I have been living a fairly green lifestyle for a long time. But I admit to being a sandwich bag snob and have used the plastic kind forever. And we did not reuse the bags! :( I just think that the bags started to look very quickly gross and unappetizing despite the washing. So these new and genius bags would be awesome for my family. And they are cute to boot. Can’t wait to see my husband go off with one of these to eat at the construction site! :) knowing him, he will be proud to be green!!!

  5. Dena says:

I would love to stop trashing the enviornment and would welcome these adorable and refreshing eco-green bags to grace our lives. What an easy way to reduce our carbon footprint. Thank you for coming up with these amazing bags!! <3 <3 <3

  133. Marilyn Freebersyser says:

Our family of 3 all have dietary restrictions that make fast food and even most restaurants poor choices when we travel. Even if we’re just out for a day of running errands it is very helpful if we can carry healthy snacks or even lunch with us. These bags would be great. And maybe a bit more superficially, I would much prefer to carry a cut little bag like this in my purse rather than a plastic baggie for my healthy snack!

    • Marilyn Freebersyser says:

Forgot to mention my favorite design! I like the navy and white bike tires print so that my husband would have a more man friendly design and I like the green pears and orange slices. Also love the red and white lady bug design!

I love the green pear and orange slice designs! (Am I disqualified for having more than 1 fave?!) These bags won’t strain the environment or the zipper on my lunch box! Plus- my students would think that they are awesome.

  136. Erin Buchanan says:

great giveaway! These bags are such a neat idea, it doesn’t hurt that they have such appealing designs either. My 3 boys would even love them for their lunches.

I’m following on Facebook. Thanks for the giveaway.

  141. Cindy Garfinkel says:

I am fanatical about not using baggies when a washable container will do just as nicely. We use tons of baggies and I hate thinking what that does to the environment. My daughter has to take a healthy snack into school daily and she would love having a flashy snack bag to show off. I love the designs, particularly the green striped and the dogs. Any cat designs? Give the kitties some love too!! Lol

  142. Sandy says:

    Following on Twitter.

  143. Laura Jones says:

I am SO in LOVE with that doggie design. Because of a recent diagnosis I’m trying to eat 6 small meals a day rather than 3 to see if it will help my symptoms (an upside is I’m losing weight, too!)…but packing food to keep around is definitely requiring use of more baggies. And this morning one just ripped down the seam when I was trying to get it open. These would definitely come in handy.

  144. Cheston Kozlowski says:

I loooooove the frog bags. A great reminder to my boys to Fully. Rely. On. God everyday! What a fantastic concept so that we leave the earth in better shape for our children. Thanks for the ideas :)
