Okay. You guys waited patiently.
We really don’t mean to stretch these things out, it’s just that we try to be mindful of other readers. You know. In case they secretly hate our designs, and want something else instead of saturated these-were-our-last-room-redo-posts-galore. That, and sometimes it’s fun to stretch things out. ;} With the bathroom overhaul, it took us about nine months to get things back in order, with mold and flooding damage and new floors…. Shew.
This space was a combination of reusing old pieces {see: revamps + handmade items} along with a few fun finds we wanted to add for super fun personality.
So without further ado, a few sources from our bedroom redo:
For the bed:
Fabric: Is from the fabulous Online Fabric Store {they’re like, our fave} in Braemore’s Gorgeous Pearl. We thought it brought in a bit of that floral that I love, with a masculine, modern touch. For the windows: Ivory Belgian Linen Fabric – I have a forever weakness for linen, and love the way it added a certain airiness to the windows. Testament to a touch of fabric will bring and a personal addition to bedding.
For that fantastic light: School House Electric’s Isaac 5 light Chandelier in natural brass. We totally took down our ceiling fan, and yes we do live in the south. It was time because we never used it. Our room is on the first floor, so that made a bit of a difference, and I think that Bertha the killer pecan tree out back, comes in handy with shading our home. So we took it down. I know. I know. We totally broke the rules and our home will implode because all things natural order are now out of whack. But you guys should see the ambiance this thing adds at night. The glow is just gorgeous in this space. If you’ve been eyeing this one for a while, it’s so fun.
Bedding: Crane and Canopy – The duvet is their Cortland Off-White Duvet Cover Set. If you’ve never checked them out before, they have some fabulous options and great prices. Also, their throw is one of my favorite snuggly additions for late night reading: Beige Herringbone Throw. I love the geometric pattern and punch of orange it brings to mix in the colors.
Pillows: Check out this post here on how we made a simple lumbar pillow with a turkish towel for this shot of purple, and we used a pillow we already had from Target to tie in the green.
The bed: Is from our recent Joss & Main Curators collection. We just couldn’t help ourselves. But I’ve seen different versions pop up on their site, so keep your eyes peeled. This one will probably be back.
We originally had plans to build one, because I’ve wanted a four poster bed for, like, ever. And then we realized that would probably cut off our space. So we went with this one, and I kind of think it made the space with that fun shot of blue.
Ampersand Art: Tutorial, here.
The rug: is from LoLoi. This was originally for the living room, and then we realized how much better it would look in here… The black has this fun tufted feel under your feet, and we’re in love. This company has some really great, unexpected kind of finds. Check ’em out if you’ve never seen them before.
Barn Door: You can check out our tutorial for that, here. Such a fun addition for our bathroom!
The wall colors are Benjamin Moore’s At Sea {666 – scary} and Lake Victoria for the bathroom {668} our favorites.
This armoire was one of our very first purchases as a married couple and once held the TV in our living room. It’s moved here, and received a recent facelift since all the distressed/offwhiteness needed a little contrast next to our barn door {Benjamin Moore’s Iron Gate {1545} + Plymouth Rock {1543}.
Remember the drama with these side tables? The redo + tutorial on how to make your very own agate knobs can be found here. Sometimes, a little elbow grease can make things free.
We gave this duo a makeover this spring, and I shared it here. It’s amazing how a fresh coat of paint will make you fall back in love with something you’ve had for years.
The accessories are a hodgepodge from around our home: pottery from college, old flea market finds, and small touches that mean a lot to us for different reasons. Each piece has a story behind it, and that’s what we love the most.
The glass lady is from our La-Z-Boy shindig, and I’ll have a tutorial on that Breakfast at Tiffany’s mask soon {linked up here}
I’ll be sharing a how to for the metallic art soon, as well. {And link it up here} but the old lamps we found about five years ago for ten smackers each at a flea market. {SCORE!} the collection of journals {one can never have enough} are from Perfectly Imperfect + {Sweet Home Alabama} Hatch.
And that about wraps it up!

So, so beautiful!!! I love everything.
I am having a hard time picking my favorite aspect of this room. I LOVE the bed. Like love. I also want a 4 post bed but had the same concerns. I also LOVE that you ditched the ceiling fan….i am really, really working on getting Scott on board with that..no luck. I won the battle for every other room in our house…but not our room. 🙁 help!! 😛
And I am super, super excited about the upcoming metallic art tutorial…!!! 🙂 🙂
ashley @ the handmade home says
Awe thanks, Tania. Yes, if you don’t use it often, the ceiling fan is worth it. ;} We may get a small floor fan later since we do live in the tropics, but still worth it. ;}
