So it’s been a real blast talking about this thing we have going on in the background here in our little corner of the internet. We’ve known for a long time now that we wanted to do something like this. But we were honestly waiting until we relocated, waiting until we were settled again and just ready.
If you’re just tuning in, we’re in the process of relocating from Montgomery, Alabama to Nashville, Tennessee. To be closer to family, and because we’re ready for a fresh start.
But it looked so different in our heads. {Doesn’t it always?}
Sometimes, life has other plans. And since we’ve seen something that we thought would be quick now drawn out into an 7 {getting ready for 8} long months of our home on the market pull-my-hair-out-sick-of-living-in-limbo-affair… {see hysterical face emoji} we decided to do something about our frustrations.
Frustrations is a kind word.
It all started in a car ride home from Nashville. Oh, and did I mention it was a little more than two months ago? We’d traveled out of town in late August to spend a weekend with some of our favorite people and friends, when we looked at each other on the long drive back. And almost simultaneously, mid-conversation we both said: What are we waiting for? Why not launch something this fall?
If you could be a fly on the passenger side window, cue my mini session with myself, listing pros and cons and whys and why nots and what ifs and whens. There have been tears. I’ve been talked off the cliff a few times. But we literally dove in, whole heartedly. It’s been a real whirlwind of a rollercoaster of events in producing and testing and crunching and launching…
No lie, it feels like we had a two month labor of sorts. I’m basically having a vampire baby. {That’s like two Twilight references in a week, y’all. I promise to stop soon} Big projects like this always feel like we’re in labor. I’m pretty sure I’ve packed on a few pounds myself in the process to show for it. It’s all good. I’ll run it off as soon as I detach myself from this coffee IV and sleep for a weekend. ;}
If you’re just tuning in, we’re launching an online studio this fall. And by this fall, we mean like, eleven days. So the big news today is that we have an official launch date! Get ready guys, because November 2nd is our official day, and we are working hard behind the scenes to make it happen.
But we couldn’t be more thrilled to share another sneak peek today.
We’ve shared a few here and there, but they’ve been mostly of our fabrics. So just in case you thought The Handmade Home studio was just about fabrics:

These look great!! Any chance you’d sell your handmade frames at some point? I got your book, but I realized I don’t have the time or skills to make them myself. I think you could make a killing!

Eleven days till I get to order Blue Egg painting. I have loved that painting forevvvvver! Then some wallpaper,pillows and cloth. Is the cloth upholstery weight? Sure do love that egg painting.
ashley @ the handmade home says
Awe thanks so much, Sue! We’re excited, too. I guess I should have mentioned this – we will have two weights of fabric – one in a quilting weight, and one in an upholstery weight for every pattern. Depending on the project, we hope to have something to fit everyone’s whim! ;}

Lynne says
Congrats Ashley on your big new adventure! I was just getting ready to make the “It’s a Wonderful Life” art for above our mantel, but see it is now available for sale. Does the canvas have the wood frame around it?
Also, I had bookmarked your instructions, but that link doesn’t work any more. Would you be able to send a new link or even email the instructions ~ in case I decide to be brave and have fun and do it on my own!
Thanks so much!
Lynne
jamin says
Hey Lynne!
Yes, it is available for purchase in the store now as a gallery wrap canvas, but does not include a frame. They are beautiful enough to hang or display with out the frame, but building a frame would be super simple too. You’d just need a few pieces of lumber, a miter box to cut it with some stain and nails or brackets to put it all together. Hope that helps!
Lynne says
Thank you! Can you also point me to the link for making this, as I had to bookmarked but is no longer valid. Below is the old link ~ or if you have instructions you could email that would be great!
