A few weeks ago, I was over our living room.
It had been a while since we’d done anything fresh, and I had the itch. So I did what any other sane, borderline-delirious, sleep deprived person with a total lack of grip on reality ready to launch their online studio who also has their home for sale would do: I totally decided to spiff up our living room with a few of our new fabrics.
I mean, never mind that the dishes were piling up, I’d kind of forgotten to brush my teeth the day before, and the laundry was now being hidden by epic Mt Vesuvius proportions of denial in the closet. At least my kids are educated.
Priorities.
Jamin walked in, and he was all, What are you doing? But it wasn’t a surprised what are you doing, because marriage. After thirteen {I guess sixteen (?!?!) if you count my crazed design school years when I ‘made’ him participate in more class assignment shenanigans – {and by ‘made’ I mean I have lady bits – duh – sorry dad and duh} he totally knew what he was getting into, y’all} years of this, he knows the drill. It’s just not as charming as it was some odd sixteen years ago.
Not because I decided to start in on fabric selections at about seven in the morning, but more because I had the entire place covered from head to toe in fabrics, trying to pick a fave, forcing the entire family to tip toe in between the fantastical carnage that was my impaired decision making skills while I rounded off my third {ish?} cup of coffee.
By the time I was finished, said fabrics were hot lava and the kids had made a game out of dodging it. I have this issue where I drink more coffee than I really need. It’s scary, really. Because I just keep sipping and then topping it off, and before I know it, I’m shaking in the middle of a gargantuan pile of fabrics like one of those hairless chihuahuas on roids, overthinking and super analytical of all the things. It’s eleven A.M. and Jamin is calling time of death.
It’s not pretty.
It’s a slippery slope, y’all. At least, I think it’s a problem. Because right now it’s how I’m super accomplishing all the things after I analyze them. Does that mean I’m an addict? Oh well. I’ll reel it in when I have a stomach ulcer get this thing launched. Thanks, coffee. I need a t-shirt.
We made a compromise in the end, by making it a family affair. The kids even weighed in, gladly letting me know which ones they preferred. Which really wasn’t a help because they wanted all the patterns. I can’t decide if I’ve brainwashed them, or if they have good taste. Oh well. Yay supportive offspring!
But it was super fun to pick some of our own pieces to deck the halls oh so festively. I have no idea why I said ‘deck’, ‘halls’ or ‘festively’ in that last sentence, because it’s not Christmas and I need to calm down.
But with my loss of sleep in the delirium department, mixed with a whole bunch of a little excitement because we’re oh so close, it kind of feels like it.
So of course when we were done we had to take a few photos and be dorks about it… we’re super excited to show you {bringing my point back around} another sneak peek today!
If you’ve dropped by lately, you know we’ve been up to our eyeballs in fun creations for The Handmade Home Studio launching this November.
What that really means, is that I looked at the calendar yesterday, and got all kinds of nervous/excited because the days are running together, and we have a list of things left to do and maybe I should take a nap. But it will totally be here before we know it.
Woot woot! I think. I’m no longer coherent anymore.
Lots of moving parts. Lots of excitement. Lots of fun that’s totally worth it.
And we have more coming than *just* fabrics, but because we’ve been immersed in the fabric side lately, we couldn’t help but update our living room, and share it in the meantime.
I mean, it was practically screaming for some love – and I was too excited to wait. ;}
We love the way it livened up the space.
I’m doing an offscreen happy dance. Shhhh. No judging.
We’re about a month away, and we’re inching closer to full launch mode, day by day.
We’ll also be carrying items like our coffee table, and this egg painting with prints available for all sizes. So stay tuned for more fun goodies we can’t wait to share!
And in case ya missed it:

And here!
We’re so excited – We just can’t hide it!
Thanks for bearing with us, y’all. And in retrospect after checking this post, I am reeling it in on the coffee side. ;} Maybe.
Have an inspired day!

Oh. My. Lands! Did you say “Lady Bits”? They rule the world! But seriously, I can’t wait till you open the shop for sale, I’ll have my coffee ready that morning to peruse through it all! Will you offer gift certificates? And will you be willing to send my husband a hint to buy me one for Christmas and save us both from his horrible shopping adventures?
