Every year, at this time… we just want to slow down. Take it all in. And do something nice with our kiddos. Christmas, in our opinion, has reached an all time frenzied peak… if we allow it to be.
So we pick a day. Or two. A day to stay in our pajamas, eat a big breakfast, and then spread out on the table for some fun projects together as a family.
It’s the perfect recipe for keeping excited minds and idle hands busy. Especially this close to Christmas.
And this year: handmade felt ornaments. We raided our crafts stash, along with this bundle of felt pieces we picked up at Target. What do you need? It basically consists of anything fun to make an ornament.
We sat down with scissors and felt and trimmings and went to town. They spent hours, and were already asking to do it again.
We just picked out our own little shapes we wanted to use, want went from there.
It eventually evolved from wintery wonderland concoctions…
to Minecraft and beyond.
Who knew that the simplest of things could be so fun?
With buttons and baubles and thread and twine, they had a blast!
And the kitchen was covered in felt, thread, and all the little pieces.
Signs of a day well spent.
Sometimes its the simple things we don’t even think of.
These are the things that memories are made of.
Even when dad tries to cut out a christmas tree… and kinda fails.
All is well in the end.
May your days ahead be absolutely merry and bright. With lots of pajama time and bedhead enjoyment.
