We’re kind of excited to share a little project we’ve been working on locally, for a fabulous client of ours. We announced a few weeks ago that we just relaunched our design services and we’re so excited to work with some of you!
PPPSSSSTTTT: Be sure to check out the finished space, here!
We believe that there is no such thing as a dream home, but instead of being bummed out, we can all stop waiting for it. It’s kind of exciting really, to give a space a fresh, new lease on life with creative solutions, and love where we are!
Ginger and her husband James are ready for a new look for their living room, and we were more than happy and totally honored to put our heads together and help them! Today we thought we’d share a few living room design ideas for their space.
They’re looking to lighten and brighten their space, along with great solutions for storage in a family friendly room. It’s always fun to see the way initial ideas translate into real spaces, but in the meantime, here’s a few of our fun ideas!
First things first and oh so typically out of order: we decided the first to go is the builder’s beige for great character and subtle splash of colors on those walls. It has a little more grey in real life… {as opposed to fake life} but the paint is oh so fun in {4} Benjamin Moore’s Opal Essence.
{1.} These guys have a great piano that they purchased from someone recently. Because it wasn’t her grandmother’s, I asked if they were up for painting it, and they said yes. {Oh yeah she did-these guys are fearless!} So we hope to do it up a little something like this, and give this sweet piano a new lease on life. <–you can find a great tutorial from Jones Design company, here.
Their living room left them very little option for television placement. It’s a forever frustrating conundrum in homes these days. However, we have a solution we’ve drawn up {6} and we plan to… wait for it… weld it. This little plan will actually save them thousands.
In the meantime, this mantel will get a cleaner cohesive look, along with a meaningful piece of art we have planned just for them:
{2} We always love a touch of fun for kiddos in the space, and we think it’s oh so essential for them to have their own special areas in subtle ways. So we have a big chalkboard planned, but with a twist since her kiddos are still a little young to go crazy with the chalk… it will still be a fully functioning board when they’re older and we can’t wait to share more with the big reveal!
{3} Fabulous chairs and fabric similar to this for pillows – we love the one of a kind feel that sewing can bring {also reupholstering her piano with a great striped fabric} And a blue pillow with a touch of coral {9} paired with something like this fabric to bring in some more colors!
{10} A super stylin’ rug from Target + this gawgeous chandy {5} are the crowning touches and seriously polish the space.
{7+8} We love shopping around to get the best prices, along with those beautiful investment pieces we know will hold up over time. We’re speaking from experience when we say it’s worth it. [Hello, bereaved planking] We found a different sofa + coffee table from the local store {Granville} via Andella – the same source as our chesterfield which has held up beautifully, btw – as always they’re one of our very favorite sources for amazing finds + we can’t wait to show you how it goes in their space!
That wraps up our little sneak peek and progress look, and we hope to show you the space all put together {maybe even next week}…
Have an inspired day!

I have that same two-tiered round side table! I found mine at Goodwill and I’ve never seen another like it until today. Hello, table twin! I love your design and can’t wait to see how it turns out. Lucky homeowners!

I think your posts like these will be my favorite yet! (I do love them all!) So much fun to see hat you come up with! Because of all the inspiration through your website and your Handmade Walls book, I am getting my home to look and ‘feel’ like I dreamed my home would. Just yesterday my kitchen got a new chandy (actually repurposed and spray painted!) and I took off some cabinet doors and I love, love, love it (so much that I don’t even care if my mother-in-law or whoever thinks it’s weird! 🙂 thanks for inspiring!
