In honor of my unofficial “Taking Back My Life” month here at The Handmade Home, {read: I shoved things in my closet and there’s a gigantic hoarders avalanche of epic proportions waiting to take us down cowabunga style if we don’t purge it soon} I wanted to share with you guys a quick little project. Something you could knock out in about an hour at night or on the weekend as a simple little edition to your home.
Whether you use it as a towel holder, jewelry catch all, or bag corral-er {you know I love those corral-ers} It’s a simple little concept to work with, and its a bit more fun than your average ordinary hook collection.
Here’s what we did:
On a 1×4, already cut to size {technically, we cut it, but you can have it cut at your local friendly home improvement store for free} and measured out how many spaces we needed for what we wanted.
We then stained said piece of wood. My current fave flavor is Minwax Early American.
Once it was stained, we decided on the fun part: the hardware. We simply screwed them into the wood.
We were almost done, but if you want to put it flush on the wall, the ends of the screws have got to go.
Of course depending on what you’ll be hanging on your piece, will be what determines the manner in which you’ll hang it into the wall. Honestly, I’m a big fan of rolling with it: prepping it with the nail all the way through the front, and securing it into the wall. Another method we use is the screwdriver/wall anchor approach. Again, just keep secured items in mind before something falls and breaks something valuable, like your toe, and you decide to drive from Canada all the way to Alabamie and break my toe for failing to mention that. Good times.
And there you have it. A great entryway/jewelry holder/closet organizer piece. For a few dollars, and a little time, it also wins some major bonus points for being charming with its eclectic collection of unexpected knob-age.
As always, let me know if you try it! Also, stay tuned for tomorrow, as I’ll do my best to have that wreath post up and going-so many of you were asking-and it’s the perfect fall weekend project with your gal friends, while watching the game! (Aside from the driftwood star, of course. :})

Lovely! What about the fabulous mirror hanging above the knobbey project??!!?? Do you have a post about it? I searched mirror, but didn’t see it. It is awesome!

Is there still a little gap between the catch-all and the wall behind it since you still have to have the nut to hold the screwed in knobs in place? Is it just such a small gap that it’s hardly noticeable unless you’re really staring at it?
This is such a cute idea – I’ll definitely be trying this in my new place once I move, so I’ll share pics with you! Thanks for sharing!
