Last year at this time our house was drywall and, well, that’s it. We were furiously planking these ceilings to get-her-done in time for moving in, and it was sheer chaos. Let’s just say, we were officially over the rehab. So we were so thrilled to be ‘old school’ and do something fun with a bit of a tour of sorts!
We’ve come a long way in a year.
So without further ado, here’s a bit of a peek at our home!
As you can see, the outside still needs a little work, and we’re kind of in the middle of that, as we speak.
But we’ve truly loved making this house our home.
I’ve always been a little bit of what one would refer to as a reluctant seasonal decorator.
And when it comes to Fall, bright colors are still our thing.
Bright colors will always be our thing.
I’m not big on pieces that scream Fall, but small touches are my very favorite.
I’m a sucker for metallic tints, and subtle texture.
I’ve found that over the years, rather than fighting this little factoid about me, I can make it my greatest super power instead, by embracing it.
So we bring in magnolia leaves from our yard,
And cozy blankets + pillows with layers of comfort and texture.
A small fire and a nice candle {pumpkin scented, duh} never hurt either.
It’s definitely the little things. Especially on a rainy day.
We’ve had a lot of those lately, and snuggling up next to the fire with a cup of hot coffee is the absolute best.
There’s something about cooler weather that just makes my heart happy.
We still have plans for this area, with a future addition, and basement rehab and desk addition, and and and… I could go on and on, in case you’re new. So I won’t bore you with those details.
But the house has come a long way and we’re still just happy to be here.
I have to say, the kitchen is our favorite spot for all things entertaining.
Nothing makes us happier than gathering here in the morning, especially with the cooler weather!
Upstairs, the kids are still loving their shared space. We’re still riding that cash cow all the way to the bank on this one until it’s time for the kids to spread out! We loved designing our own wallpaper and fabrics for the kids room.
It’s still my favorite space, ever. Probably because we worked so hard to make a shared space feel special for them in the move… so it’s especially fun to add small touches every now and then as we go along, to celebrate the seasons.
They love subtle touches with pumpkins of their choice, and this year, I opted for a really simple banner combo from the dollar section of Tarjay.
Because easy.
Fairytale pumpkins sit upon the tops of bedtime stories, and the kids are officially asking, When is Halloween?
They get so excited.
Our own bedroom was just finished a few months ago, but we’ve added a few cozy additions of our own here and there.
It got a tiny nod with a few little pumpkins of their own, thanks to my seasonal decorating helper elves.
They get a little excited when I break out the boxes and love finding their own homes for things.
We may or may not be playing find-the-pumpkin around here.
As soon as Emerson sees that I’ve broken them out, she’s all about the tiny pumpkin distribution.
Pumpkins for all.
Last year, this side of our bedroom looked like this,
So we’re so glad to have it up and running, to speak.
Even our gallery wall in the hallway is feeling cozier right now, since we finally added photos.
This is one of our favorite views. The great room has been just perfect to open it all up for our needs as a family.
Yay for change!
I even topped it off with an easy table setting that gets the kids super excited for the changing of the seasons, since we’re usually pretty casual around here.
I do find, now that we have a pool, that we’re a little slow catching onto the whole fall thing.
Like, it can take its sweet time.
I think I see a heater in our future since swimming season is so short here in Franklin, TN.
But the kids had fun decking out the hideaway already, since it’s a new addition from last year.
Heck, at this point, everything is a new addition from last year!
With their own subtle touches.
And a flair of their own.
If you need us, we’ll be here camping out for the next few weekends in a row.
Thanks for joining us on our little tour!
