Fresh fun. Fresh perspective. Fresh ideas.
Fresh veggies.
This is the summer of fresh.
Of trips to the farmers market… so many trips to the market that we are on first name basis with everyone.
A sweet little older man looks for us every week, so he can tease the kids. And even though they act shy about it, their faces light up when they see him. We realize it’s a sweet connecting of generations, and it’s often missed out on in our fast-paced world.
With all the great finds, the farmer’s market makes it easy to create sweet salads that keep it light and easy. And today we wanted to share one of our very favorite homemade dressings!
You may recognize the name, as it’s definitely inspired by one of our faves at Chic-Fil-A… though we have no idea how they make theirs, this was our take on it… you know, so that we’re not the psychos grabbing fifty packets when we go to the drive through.
Here is what you will need:
• 1 avocado • 1/2 fresh lime • pack or dry ranch dressing • 16 oz. sour cream
If you don’t own a food processor, you’ll want to first blend or smash your avocado into a cream.
Then, add in the sour cream, the dry ranch dressing, and squeeze 1/2 fresh lime into the bowl. Mix until blended. You might want a pinch of salt and pepper or a little more lime depending on your tastebuds.
We tried subbing in greek yogurt, and if you’re interested in a sharper taste, try it! The sour cream worked for us, though. It makes a great dip or all out dressing, and we love that it’s such a fresh option.
{And that we don’t have to take fifty packets like a couple of psychos every time.}
We love this dressing on top of a baby spinach salad with feta, strawberries, blueberries, walnuts and granola. Every now and then we will toss in some grapes and other fruits for a fun twist.
It’s one of our favorite fresh summer salads.
Let us know if you try it and more importantly we’d love to hear some of your great homemade dressing ideas – what are some of your favorites?
Have an inspired day!

I bet the dressing would be great made with Mexican crema (similar to sour cream but for lack of better words “less thick”). Will try with both for sure. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
