During all things Covid, we’ve gotten a ton of messages on the fun builds people are creating. We even have a whole post coming up on all things handmade hideaways – they’ve been quite the creative, therapeutic feat during this crazy season of life for everyone. It’s like the baby boom after a war.
Cue my Oprah voice: You get a hideaway and you get a hideaway. YOU ALL GET HIDEAWAYS!
We’re forever impressed by everyone’s amazing creations.
We’ve always been big fans of improving spaces for families, because we believe that your home is an experience, and should reflect that. It should also reflect who you are.
We know that with all things unsure and learning from home on the horizon, a lot of people are looking to create their own learning environment for their children. {We did a whole round up here for anyone looking into those options.}

We’ve lost sleep over this decision with our own family. Should we go online? Should we send them back? Should we homeschool? With so many unknowns, we just want everything to return to normal. Unfortunately, I feel like we’ve been prepping ourselves to dive into round two with reeling it back in, and cold weather returning. Not trying to sound dismal, just real. It’s been hard for everyone.
We have to say in an unstable environment with so many unknowns, there’s something to be said about taking control. There’s an entire psychology around creating your home, and it’s truly soothing on so many levels. From building a handmade hideaway for kids to play, revamping the kitchen, or a learning space for your children, home has never been more of a retreat from the craziness outside your own walls than it is now.
I think that more people are taking on projects and improving their own homes, than ever.
When a sweet reader wrote in about our loft bed, this comment absolutely made our day. There’s a real therapy behind creating in unsure times. A psychology in creating a reprieve from the world outside. If this reader comment showed us anything, it’s that it doesn’t stop just because your kids are older.
While we absolutely hate that unsure times are upon all of us, we love this take on all things creating an environment for your needs.
There’s just something about taking an idea, and running with it… making it your own.
It reminded us why we do what we do, here, and we thought that this was pretty cool. Definitely worth the re-share, in case anyone else needed some fun inspiration, or a reminder about this post.
We’re with all of you. No matter what you choose to do this year with school and your kids, no matter what their age… we know that it’s a tough decision.
We just thought this was a bittersweet reminder that we’re all doing our very best right now. We love making homes a respite from the current world we live in.

Thinking of all of you, and no matter what you choose this year. We’re with you. And we know it’s not easy. We hope this little post serves as a reminder for some inspiration, and that you’re not alone.
Have an inspired day!
