So… we’re back today. And we’re here to announce the official date of our downsizing, great big moving, come and get it sale!
We put our heads together and have begun the great purge. Some of it, anyway. We’ve decided this will be our big weekend, because we officially close later in April, and want to begin the process of packing once the purging is finito. So, Saturday, April 9th it is, and the following weekend… in case of inclement weather.
This is the official page for the big sale, so please know that if anything changes, we will post it here.
We wanted to give you a preview of some of the definite goodies we plan on sending out your way. But first… a few FAQ’s:
_______
Here’s the deal: If you see one of our larger {furniture only} items on our post today, and are interested, email us at [email protected] – (Because our mobile site is acting weird and protecting the addy: info (at) thehandmadehome.net – we will hold it for you to pick up that day, if you prepay. This helps us with the larger furniture only items. Please note that it needs to be picked up by that day, as we are clearing out everything that does not sell.
_______
What kind of sale is this? This is a little bit of everything sale. We have good stuff and we have little stuff and we have a few big things. We’re downsizing, so the things we absolutely want to get rid of will be there, and we have a few previews in our post today. This is a literal hodgepodge. Please know most of our studio pieces like t-shirts, and fabric… will not be available at the big sale. If you really want one, or some of our books while you’re at our home, we can probably fish one out, we just don’t want merchandise out since it’s not that kind of sale.
We are however, making our metal letters available at lower prices. You can also anticipate the usual stuff like old curriculum, books our children have outgrown, crafting supplies and fabric remnants. Some things, we are still figuring out. We have a lot to figure out, actually. It’s quite terrifying… So wish us luck. ;}
Time? 8:00 – 10 a.m. – please no early perusers. We will probably be awkwardly trying to get everything outside, because we are also advertising locally, and because we want to give our real readers a fair chance at whatever. We will post the local advertisements to start later. If you want to show up early, that’s amazing and we will be so happy to see you there. We can not wait to meet anyone who comes by!
Location? We’re located in Alabama. If you’re an axe murderer, you’re out of luck, because we need you to email us and we will send out our address. Safety first. {[email protected]} Of course, you could still be an axe murderer, and email us, and we will still give it to you because you could lie. So, there’s always that. Just know we have two ferocious dogs who will eat your face.
How will we pay for our goodies? We will take cash and credit. Jamin is your man for the cash. And if you get super excited and carried away and don’t have enough cash, we don’t blame you and will make payment available for cards, as well. 😀 Jamin is your man for payment, because I get nervous and stink at math. But I will try. Winning.
Will there be restrooms? Out of respect for our new buyers, and our children, and just general awkwardness, there will be no restrooms or indoor activity. Please note that this is firm. There are plenty of nearby restrooms in driving distance. We love being good hosts, but just can not do that at this time. Thank you in advance for understanding.
Why should I come? Because even if you buy nothing, we would love to meet you. And it’s a great chance to see all our crap. I mean, duh. What else would you do on a Saturday? {Sarcasm.} We would seriously love to see you there. ;} So without further ado, here’s a little bit of what you can find…
Our no sew teepee!
super nice china cabinet from our old school dining room
a few accent tables
Emerson’s bed
This gargantuan frame: It can hold quotes or photos! We hate to let it go, but just won’t have the wall space.
this arrow from our book
Extra metal letters in our small size
this bench
the letters over our cabinets
our handmade play kitchen!
Frames out the wazoo – whatever a wazoo is.
hand painted letters
this beautiful piece that I really wanted to do something with but will not have room for
And a TON of little things. We aren’t even sure yet, so stay tuned. ;}
So anyway, if you have your Saturday free, and you need a little time to kill and come peruse a fun sale… and maybe even make fun of us… this is it!
It’s our last great hurrah. We truly hope to see you there.

I’m sad you’re moving. Is there a post that talks about where you’re going? I feel a sentimental attachment to your home for reasons I don’t understand. I know it must be hard to leave.
ashley @ the handmade home says
Awe thank you so much, Amanda. I started crying this morning when the first email came through about wanting to purchase something. It’s just stuff. But there’s something about starting to take our house apart that makes me very sad. We sold our home here in this post,https://www.thehandmadehome.net/2016/03/a-little-pixie-dust/ and we purchased a home {it’s all under contract anyway} here in this post.https://www.thehandmadehome.net/2016/03/geronimo/ Thank you so much for your sentimental attachment with us. It makes me feel like I’m not alone.
Melissa Miller says
How much is the gargantuan frame? how long is it?
ashley @ the handmade home says
I’m sorry Melissa. The frame has sold.
Amanda @ The Bay Bush says
You are definitely not alone! I feel an attachment to EVERYTHING no matter how long I’ve had it so I can’t imagine having to let go of the the things you’ve worked so hard to build and make.
But you are right…it’s just stuff. You still have the things that matter and imagine all the new possibilities with your new blank canvas!
p.s. Are you going to Haven?
ashley @ the handmade home says
Awe thanks so much Amanda! No, we will not be at Haven. Hope it’s a blast!
Melissa B. says
We recently moved from your neck of the woods but I will be in town that Saturday so I’m going to plan to stop by! I’m on my phone and can’t access your email address because of the protection feature. I’d love to find out about the teepee if it hasn’t sold already!
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey! I have no idea why it’s doing that. It’s [email protected] info {at} thehandmadehome.net if you have any questions, but as of now, the teepee has sold. Thanks so much and we hope to see ya anyway!
Rachel says
How much for the bench ? And by any chance are you going to sell the big framed American poster behind it ?
Mallory says
Hi Ashley, I live in Millbrook just over the river bridge! I cannot get the email link to work from my iPhone. I am interested in coming to the sale and I would also like to know what your asking price is for Emerson’s bed and if the mattress is included or not? Thank you!
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey Mallory! So sorry – the bed has already sold – but the email address is [email protected] if you would still like to come to the sale – we can send you our home addy ! We should still have a ton of art and great pieces that we’re deciding to throw in, as well. ;}
Rachel says
