We had another rainy afternoon the other day, and it was a great opportunity to put these restless littles to work on a fun project.
I know. We’ve been big into paint dripping lately {see our abstract canvas + marbelized easter eggs}.
So we got out all our supplies and made these adorable {if we do say so ourselves} magnets for the fridge!
We just love fun little accents for all their art, held up by art they created themselves. So fun!
This is a part of our basement, and it sure beats the before.
It’s actually kind of crazy this is the same space. But digression.
Want to make some of your own?
Here’s what you’ll need: {contains affiliate links to support our painting habit} – everything comes straight to your door!
• acrylic paint {linking here but if you already have some it will also work}
• cup of some sort for mixing and pouring
• tiny canvases
• self adhesive magnets – we chose these because they’re flexible and won’t scratch surfaces – you may want some glue to really secure them.
• drop cloth of some sort
This is the same idea from our marbleized easter egg post, but you get the gist.
I always start with a white base, but you can do whatever you like. Just start with white and add color as you wish.
From there, you can stir for a finer look, or start to pour.
A little bit goes a long way, and there was a bit of a learning curve.
But just pour your paint in the middle of your canvas, and then gently move it around. Your hands will get messy so just be ready for it.
This project is all about happy accidents and we love it so.
Malone was really proud of his color combo – and so were we. So pretty!
Side note, but it kind of blows my mind he is Aiden’s age when we moved here. 4 years ago. My how time flies.
Emerson had some gorgeous combos as well. We love the way they all turned out!
Such a simple project.
We let the canvases dry, {it took the better part of a day – so we just let them sit overnight.} and then added magnets to each corner.
I recommend a little hot glue to secure them, so that every time they’re moved on the fridge, they stay attached to the canvas.
Tada! We were ready to go.
We love the fun color and simple fun they brought to our basement fridge.
It’s these simple projects that are my sanity saver right now. We’re all about that art therapy.
So fun!
We hope you’re enjoying these therapeutic little projects.
As always, let us know if you try some. We’d love to hear!
Have an inspired day!
