psssst…. shop our spaces here!
We’re so excited to be back today with another kitchen makeover from one of our latest clients!
We love every overhaul and rehab in it’s own way, but this is one where we’re so excited to show you that just a few changes can totally rock your world, and update all things in need of a change!
Carol and her husband are nearly-empty-nesters who entertain friends and host their adult children for family gatherings. They were in need of an inviting kitchen to reflect their love for life and all things new beginnings.
So after a lot of discussions and planning, we were thrilled to take it from this above photo to a nice change in this:
Their cabinets were painted a gorgeous simple white, and their countertops were a huge upgrade from builder’s grade granite.
Carol loved the look of soapstone, but not the maintenance. So we opted for an eye-candy black granite for understated elegance, and paired it with their new island in a gorgeous quartzite. Both are safe picks for an easy peasy kitchen.
I may or may not have drooled on the countertops a few times.
Jk.
Or am I?
It’s amazing what a little tile and fresh paint can do, amirite?!
We designed a simple island for them with ample storage space, and much unlike their previous island, all on one level. It’s amazing how much larger it makes their kitchen feel. It’s no longer choppy and overwhelming.
We also went with simple shapes to blend nicely with their existing cabinetry, and chose a dark tone within their existing hardwoods to tie it all together.
Carol loves all things books, so we loved providing a space for that pull out trash, {goodbye, trashcan!} and an end cap bookshelf for all things cookbooks and recipes.
And here’s another view of that ridiculously gorgeous quartzite.
Yes, please.
A farmhouse sink provides more space for all things dishes, and is an inviting change to their old one.
The gorgeous lights in the space are from Kichler – our favorite source for all things lighting!
These are like the perfect earrings to top off an outfit.
These particular lights set the bar for all things pendant lights in the kitchen, and we love the look and feel they bring to the space. The former lights they had were smaller – these fill up the space visually, in a way that brings so much interest.
The gorgeous tile in the kitchen is from Jeffrey Court. It’s their Marrakech 9-3/8 in. x 12-1/4 in. x 8mm Ceramic Mosaic.
You can find it at Home Depot here for purchase.
We think it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks for letting us pop in to share this new kitchen today!
It’s amazing what a few fresh changes can do to make everything feel oh so open and amazing… if we do say so ourselves. ;}
What’s your favorite part? We’d love to hear! Have an inspired day!

My favorite part is that you two are so talented! And it is a mystery to me how you *implement* all your ideas. I have design ideas but I don’t know how to brings things into being that are beyond a handicraft level, such as using power tools, etc. Good job! I love your work.

Can you share the cost to redo the counters/backsplash?

Beautiful! I always love everything about your remodels & make-overs! Your attention to details is amazing. The island is fabulous. What a huge difference just making it into one level. I really love the counter tops.
The Quartzite is awesome and the Granite looks like Leather.
