Sometimes, we stumble across some products that have been little game changers around the house, and we think it’s fun to share. Whether it’s making our lives easier or getting the kids to participate {which also makes our lives easier}, the little things that come together to help maintain a home are really big deals in saving time. This is also just in time for gift giving season, if you like to go the practical {and brilliant} route, or maybe just one for yourself. We won’t judge. Here are a few of our faves {in no particular order} products we’re loving right now.
1. RotoScrub
We shared this one a few days ago in our stories, but Jamin might be most in love with the RotoScrub, because it makes scrubbing all the things a real breeze. And more fun, if we’re being honest. I love it too because it cleans all the things with minimal effort – no more exhausting scrubbing without any progress. I’m kind of obsessed with all their new accessories they keep adding, to make cleaning such a breeze. Anything helps, right?
It’s so easy, it’s brilliant. You basically attach a scrubber or sponge of choice to your power tool, and it does all the rotating for you. No more wax on, wax off a-la Mr. Miyagi. It cuts the icky stuff in your shower in half the time. While you may not be training to be a top Karate fighter, I’d argue that you’re still burning some calories with this one, too. Everyone wins.
A prime example would be that recently, we had a copper imbalance in our pool outside. That meant that we got some not-so-fun purple stains on the inside. We’ve only had our pool for a few years, and it was completely restored {remember, it was black when we moved in} but this was a first for us. Once we got it balanced out again, we realized those stains weren’t going anywhere without a nice buff-out. Ew. The RotoScrub cut our cleaning time into nothing, and made it sparkle again. There are so many ideas and applications for this amazingly handy tool, we love how versatile it is! Have you tried it? Let us know what you use it for!
2. Odoban
Anyone else have a front-loading washer? We love ours, but is it just me, or do these things get stinkay? Pet. PEEVE.
It might seriously be one of the worst smells in the world. Over time, bacteria can build up on the inside and make your laundry smelly, too. Which I’m assuming for most people, is kind of the opposite of what you were after, with the whole, let’s wash our dirty linens thing.
There’s nothing like freshly folded towels in a clean scent. Ours were starting to smell after one use. Ew. I was way too sexy for my laundry, at that point. So we tried Odoban to really freshen up the washer.
It really got rid of that gross smell! They have 6 different scents, and not only does it smell good, but it’s a cleaner, disinfectant, and sanitizer that kills 99.99% of germs in 60 seconds.
They make a ton of cleaning products, so be sure to check out all of Odoban’s products here. With flu season upon us, we’re all about those cleaning supplies.
3. A.O. Smith Whole House Filtration Systems
We’ve mentioned A.O. Smith Filtration Systems before, but kind of wanted to give you an update. Because this filtration system has been awesome around our house, now that it’s installed. We’re big water drinkers in our house. Yay water!
But from filtering out all that other nonsense for our skin and hair, to simple getting-water-from-the-tap like the olden days, it’s changed the way we operate in our house. We were spending {with a family of five} $200 annually on fridge filters. That equates to a whopping $1,200 over six years. And a lot of waste. With an A.O. Smith whole home water filter, we save over 900 dollars. Yes, please.
It reduces 97% of the chlorine taste and odor from any faucet, making it safe and pleasant drinking water. Exposure to harsh chlorine, depending on where you live, can cause excessive drying on your skin and hair. Reducing the exposure can increase softness. {Bonus!} So when it comes out of your shower faucet on the daily, that’s a good thing.
Filtering all the water coming into your home helps stop chlorine from evaporating into the air you breathe providing cleaner air throughout your home. {Double bonus.} In general, it means less impact from the environment because bye plastic bottles! So many pros to this one, and no, to answer our most-asked question, installing it {though simple} did NOT change our water pressure! Winning all around.
Be sure to check out more of them, here + our original post here.
4. Greenworks
YES! We’ve been sharing a lot about them, but really it’s because we’re so passionate about a great company with a great cause. Greenworks is like investing in our future in so many ways, from teaching our kids to help around the house, to saving the environment. We can mow our lawn at night, we don’t have to deal with all the gasoline, our kids can pitch in because they’re lightweight, safe and easy. SO. Many. PROS. {And such a great gift idea!}
We love standing behind a great company that cares about the earth.
Our passion for the future and raising little citizens of the earth, is why we’re so excited that Greenworks Tools is the official outdoor power tool partner of the 50th anniversary Earth Day! The 5oth anniversary Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, so look for a lot of fun stuff coming from Greenworks over the next 6 months.
Because every day is Earth Day at Greenworks and we are going to help them celebrate in big ways this year. And they want to help you celebrate as well! Over the next year, we’re asking you to join us in a challenge of “50 Acts of Greenworks”. The goal is to complete 50 acts of green before Earth day next year. This includes simple things like: plant a tree, recycle those wine bottles, gift your father in law a battery-powered string trimmer, ride a bike to work, stop using those plastic grocery bags or at least recycle them. Buy less plastic, use one car, stop purchasing bottled waters… these ideas are kind of fun.
You get the idea.
And if you take the challenge to participate, there will be fun little surprises along the way, as if creating a better world for our kids isn’t enough. {So stayed tuned there will be more to come.} So please, please join us in helping spread the challenge and get your friends and neighbors involved! Our personal goal is to rid our home of all gas lawn tools… even that riding lawnmower.
We hope we shared something useful today… maybe even a great gift idea, or something for yourself! Easy is the name of the game around here and we’re always searching for things that will help out in that department.

Noticed your washer door is closed in the photo- assuming you keep it open when not in use? If no, that is why it is smelly – door has to be open for it to dry out between uses!
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey! We keep it open. I close it for photos {because I have a weird job} and sometimes when people come over ;} But great reminder for anyone who isn’t familiar ;}
