It’s that time of year, and we’re thrilled to join some of our friends today, to share our fave holiday drink recipe!
This year’s idea is a yummy homemade hot chocolate recipe, and a hot chocolate bar.
When the kiddos got home from school the other day, we surprised them with a special treat.
And we included all the toppings and goodness to go with it. It was so much fun!
Here’s one of their creations – which was straight sugar and amazing, because ’tis the season.
So if you want to make a hot chocolate bar, we have all the details here, along with some free labels, too!
Here’s what you need {for the oh so yummy homemade hot chocolate recipe}:
• 3 1/2 C vitamin D milk
• 1/2 C heavy whipping cream
• 1/4 C of brown sugar
• 1/4 T sea salt
• 1/4 C cocoa
1/4 c milk chocolate chips
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 tsp vanilla
• {Vanilla Feeds Tomorrow – details on why you need this, below!}
It’s simple, really. One bottle provides 42 meals for East Tennessee families. Baking with a good cause! It also makes a great gift!
The best part? It was started by a 14 year old boy who has a heart for good things. He’s just the sweetest, y’all.
So if you’re looking for something thoughtful and one of a kind this holiday season, here you go.
Now with free gift wrapping, by the way. You can’t go wrong.
Check out this sweet little news story on him, here.
Melt in the milk + chocolate chips, slowly adding in the rest of the ingredients. Simply stir as you go, until nice and hot.
For the toppings, here’s a little bit of what we used:
• marshmallows {large and small because the more the merrier}
• whipped cream
• chocolate chips
• peppermint spoons
• whoppers
• kit kats
• Lindt milk chocolate truffles
• dark chocolate sea salt toffee
• andes mints
• sea salt caramel
• pirouette cookies
• white peppermint bark + white chocolate covered pretzels {courtesy of our friends/neighbors!}
We simply put everything in little jars, and then put it on our white cart {we usually use this for school supplies, but it was so fun to have it out on display with the kiddos.} A few other accessories that helped: {a few affiliate links because chocolate}
• white cart
• red baker’s twine
• bottle brush trees
• twinkle lights
• wooden scoops
• red festive cups
It was so fun to have these little treats on display!
These little labels are just perfect too, because you can add in whatever topping you choose. We just cut a little hole at the top, and added the twine to attach.
The perfect way to wind down at the end of a long day!
We can’t wait to add some Christmas jammies to the mix so we can be lazy for a while. It’s been a long year, y’all.
The cozier, and merrier, the better right now.
As always, let us know if you try it. We’d love to hear!
Such a fun, warm treat.
