In our last post regarding all things weddings, I explained that I’ll be helping with, participating in, and styling/directing a few weddings in the upcoming months. {One of them being my little sister!} I’m so excited for all of these beautiful blushing brides, and we’re honored to be a part of their big days…in more ways than one. So in the meantime, we’ve been working on a ideas, pieces of inspiration, and thoughts on carrying through some handmade wedding ideas around here.
On Sunday, we spent most of our time here. This is what I love about the southern tropics of Alabama.
You just never know what amazing piece of land, draped with charming moss and beautiful wildflowers…picturesquely adorned with apple red barns you’ll stumble upon next. {Yep. I kind of want an apple red barn of my own.}
What were we doing?
Checking out some fabulous wedding digs of a soon to be bride and groom who will be married this July. On the groom’s stomping grounds, the ceremony will be here…
And the reception, here. They plan to clear it out, and what I love about it, the great potential that this one of a kind locale has. Absolute charm.
So while the kids did this… {see: adorably danced in fields of wild flowers and held bouquets up for posed photos like the statue of libery} We discussed the potential for styling her wedding. She’s thinking of a scaled back color scheme with lots of white…think wild flowers and babies breath…paired with soft versions of this:
{flower image via } While the bridesmaids dresses will set the tone with lots of soft blush undertones in wonderful fashions like this: {paired with cowgirl boots, of course.}

Rustic weddings are absolutely wonderful, and sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to create a ceremony and reception from scratch. I’ve spent a little time gathering some images to get Kara’s creative juices flowing…and why we don’t want to give away everything before the big day, I thought I’d share a few inspirational photos. Whether it’s a little partay you plan to throw, or a wedding of your own, I think we can all enjoy some photos every now and again…

This is probably my most favoritest wedding of all time. Just sayin.

Are these simple, fabulous images of weddings past absolutely inspirational or what? Kind of makes me want to replan my own wedding…a mere 10 years later. In the meantime, I’m getting pretty pumped about helping my friend create something beautiful from a blank slate with lots of potential. I guess I can always live vicariously… and we can’t wait to share it all with you!
Stay tuned, and have an inspired day!
update: Because I felt the need to clarify: I realize I titled this wedding as Kara’s. As if she’s marrying herself. She’s totally marrying a fantastic groom {woot woot, Baker!} and it’s just easier to keep our weddings straight, in planning mode with the bride’s names. More to come on that, later! ;}

Love your site! My daughter got married in Oct. it was rustic, used a lot of burlap, with silver and cream accents. We hung champagne colored lanterns over the dance floor, very cheap on Oriental Trading Co., you get alot for a little.

I’m getting married next year and am having a hard time finding dresses for my wedding. My theme is a rustic country wedding with some 40’s in it. Can you give me any ideas as to were I can get dresses for that theme. I keep looking and all I find is the basic bridesmaid dresses and I want to go with cotton. I would really appreciate any and all advice you can give to me.
Thanks
Amanda

Hey Amanda! If you’re talking about Bridesmaids dresses, were you thinking of mismatched dresses like we chose in this post here? It may be worth it to check on modcloth and search until you find the right one. It can have a pretty look to it. These aren’t available anymore but it still gives you the same idea. And some of these are a little modern, but you could search until you found the right lines. Sorry I’m not much more help than that. I have found that the conventional bridesmaids dress route is downright depressing. Good luck!!! ;}

Hey Tisha! I think that post had a link to Modcloth? Anyway, try Modcloth… that’s where we originally linked them from – maybe they still carry something similar! ;}
