Update:
It’s here! Check out all the files here !
Thank you so much for your kind words and encouraging posts. This truly means so much to us! I wanted to touch base and let you know that the planner will be released in late August this year, instead of early July. We’ve just had to take a moment and dig through floor plans, client work, deadlines and more, as well as enjoy some time with our children until school starts again. So it’s coming, and we always deliver… we’re just a little slower this year, and it feels manageable this way. Thank you for your patience.
It’s {almost} that time of year again. Our ninth year! It’s crazy we’ve done this for nine years. So I’m truly asking to hear from you, and kindly requesting that if you are interested in the 2022 planner, to please read this! {Psssttt… get our 2021 planner here!}
I’m sharing a little real talk today: it’s coming. But we’re a little slower this year. The planner is a real love/hate for me, because over the years, my love for creating, paired with all the requests, has become a little overwhelming.
Our business has grown in other directions in nine years. I’m balancing deadlines with designs for clients and photoshoots for brands, and my own family this summer who honestly hates it when I go into a hole to create this. {My daughter flat out asked me NOT to do this, the other day.} We’re also starting our very own owner’s suite addition which has been a long time coming and is about to become a side project on it’s own. So in short, I’m not complaining, but truly hoping for a manageable compromise.
This will be our ninth year. This planner now encompasses thousands of files. And while I love creating, I also totally resent it. So just know that it will be available this year, but it will be slightly delayed. And this is why I’m writing.
I would like to know:
- Would you download it, if I do it again?
- What would you like to see included this year?
One thing I am considering since I’m looking for a manageable compromise:
Leaving the months blank, so you can fill in your own info. Bonus: I can turn the months around again, so that you have an option for vertical and horizontal. With lots of fun patterns. We’ve had quite the conundrum, with disgruntled people over that one. ;} #CHAMPAGNEPROBLEMS
This way it takes a little of the work off of me, but you still get the fun look and colors and patterns without the endless corrections, frustration, and more on my end. I get to focus on what I love: the design, without all the technical stuff I hate. I’m currently working on reformatting a few things, and coming up with some fun new patterns and designs. But I’d like to hear from you. I know I can’t make everyone happy. Because we’re {The Handmade Home} so much more than a planner company, I’d just ask that people take into consideration the work that goes into this.
We’re happy to be here. We just have to have some healthy boundaries, too. And we’re looking for some viable solutions so that we can move forward in a good way for everyone.
So let me know your thoughts on the issues above. We would love to hear from you.

I LOVE your planner and have used it for many many years. I will definitely download it again this year. I love all the options you already have and don’t need any additions. I love that you added the mileage log a few years ago. I use the planner for personal and for a small engineering consulting business I run. Leaving the months blank seems like a great idea. It makes it even more flexible for which graphics can be which months as well as more flexible using the same calendar pages on more than one year. Then we can print out 16 months of calendar or 24 months ahead if needed.
Krista says
A blank planner would be wonderful! Then it could be used a few months at a time, or started mid year without waste, and the designs could be used any year.
Mary Beth Brown says
I would definitely download if you did this again. I am also for leaving the months blank. Whatever makes it easier for you! I completely understand trying to find a healthy balance!
Mary Beth Brown says
Maybe make it editable? I have a little OCD and hate my handwriting and would love it to be editable!
Abby says
Ooh, this would be lovely, if possible!
Renee says
I vote for blank! (I also vote for your sanity. Do what you are able. We are grateful.)
Katie says
A blank planner would be great! the ultimate in customizable!
Abby says
I second the blank months. The only things I use are the month view and weekly view. I would use a “to-do” list; I’m not sure if you include something like that. I wouldn’t mind writing in the months or number the days on blank calendars
Faye says
I’m totally interested – love your planner! Love it the way it is now – would also love blank. It’s always got so many options and ways to customize – I can’t hardly believe there are issues. It was free for so many years for heavens sake – how can anyone complain! I digress. Whatever you provide, I’ll be happy for – nay, ecstatic about! Probably dancing…. weirdly.
Jenn says
Love your planner so much, & under at and you’re love/hate! Make it as easy as possible for yourself. I don’t think charging something, even if only a couple of dollars would be a negative, it’s worth it! THANK YOU!
Lael says
Absolutely, I would download again! This will be my 3rd year using it! I seriously look high and low every year for a planner Abe always end up coming back because there is truly nothing else like it. All the lovely patterns, personable details and specific wants that I like!
Things that I would personally love-
-I like keeping vertical and horizontal options and write in months work best!!
– An updated student planner that has space for a week glance with at least 6 subject spaces. A day’s at a glance with enough spots for teacher notes, personal kid notes/doodles. A journal page where student and parent can communicate back and forth with either praise from parent or things kid is struggling with academically.
– Bigger subject spaces for at least 6-8 subject slots and a week at a glance for multiple kids.
– Slimmer size (so it can fit the longer vertical happy planner) to be easily taken with parent so they are able to keep track during rv schooling/out of state educational trips or even just to the zoo.
I love all the pretty designs! And can’t wait to see what’s new this year!! Thank you so so much!!
Cindy says
Love your planner and blank would be perfect but if you aren’t finding joy in what you do it must be distressing. Do what suits and feels right for you.
Allison Jablonski says
First, thank you for your labor of love for NINE years!
Second, do the blank months because I agree – I could set up my planner for whenever I want. And ohhh yes a to do list please!
Lastly, we appreciate you and this large task. But your children are only this age once. Maybe next year, take a year off or recycle some older designs to create a “new” offering? Don’t miss out on any of this. Your loyal readers will still be here!
ashley @ the handmade home says
Thank you so much, Allison! Your words are so kind. I truly appreciate them. Yes, I will probably be working nights so that it doesn’t take away from my time with them when they need me. ;}
Melanie Powers says
I’m so excited for the new planner. I paid to download all the files last year and would totally do it again. Blank or no blank months is fine with me. I would love to see a weekly layout that mimics the happy planner style with each day being divided up into three sections vertically. I’d also love to see a horizontal layout as an option too.
The other thing that would be amazing is a homeschool weekly lesson plan page that spans two pages and has the days of the week vertically in the first column and then 6 or 7 columns beside that for entering subject headings at the top and then all the work planned/completed for each subject.
Thanks so much for all your hard work! Your planner is so beautiful!

I started downloading your planner about 3 years ago. With the succeeding years I only download the year at a glance and month calendars and reprint the rest of the pages I’ve downloaded previously. Why reinvent the wheel? Save your sanity. Each year just re-do the calendar pages and any other pages that strike your fancy and let people choose from already prepared items. And don’t feel obligated to provide more than you can do without it being rewarding to you. I like using your planner and hope you can keep doing it, but not at the expense of your peace of mind.
Elisabetta Bugli says
Thank you guys for all these years, you worked heavily indeed!!! I only guess what it meant to you and your family… I’m so sorry for that…
Of course I’m totally interested in a new planner but in a “light” version thought 😉
I agree with the other planner addicted, blank months could be a good balance maybe!
In my “ideal” world I’d like a blank daily pages too (or different version), year at a glace, blank month, weekly, daily planner are enough.
But do (if you still can do it in some way) what you can, I agree with the others, it “must” worth in some way.. and if it doesn’t… let it goes…. “We” always appreciate and love what you did anyway!!!
Elisabetta
(sorry for my English…)
Jennifer Ayling says
I absolutely adore your planner! And I’m happy to pay for it.
As many years as you’ve been offering this, I don’t think there is any need to create anything new. Just do an undated calendar and call it good!
Thank you for your hard work. It really is a beautiful planner.
Sarah says
I’ve been enjoying your planners for 6 years now and LOVE them + SO appreciate all the hard work you put into them. I’d also be perfectly happy with blank month pages that I could add my own dates in. Perhaps making them editable so people could add dates with the computer before printing for those who really like things neat and tidy. I’ll definitely plan on printing again this year.
Amber says
I LOVE your planner and will definitely download it again.
I definitely have to jump on board with the editable version!!!
Thanks so much for your dedication and hard work!!!!
Jenn says
Undated is best – that way, at a small charge, I can download it and use what I love or am used to from one year to the next.
I used this 6 years ago, and loved it. Life changed drastically for me after that, but things are settling down again, and I love that I found you again!
Anne Beady says
I just got the planner and so far I’m loving it! I would go for blank months. And weekly pages options for all of the monthly page options (I’m OCD and like my weekly and monthly pages to match each other.)
jennifer says
i love your planners! i would love it if you could do a month view—dated or not that i could printout on 1 page and not split onto 2 pages 🙂 but i understand if that is not possible.
Rita Joy says
Ashley, I have LOVED and used your planners since year 1! They are so colourful and happy! I admit that I’ve only downloaded the months and printed them, but I love them. Thanks for all your super hard work on these. I’ve noticed they have grown and grown with options galore. That’s so hard to keep up with. Whatever you end up doing, thank you.
Ellen says
I love your planner and have used it for years! It is by far the one that works best for me. I’d be totally fine with blank months. I use the weekly A5 pages from years past, and I also love the year at a glance, quotes, and blank note pages.
Ellen says
I also wanted to add that I LOVE the vertical month pages so I don’t have to rotate my planner. And yes, I plan to download at least the month pages.
michelle says
I love your planner….I think I have used it for 8 of the nine years, or maybe all 9 years? I’ve also referred lots of other people to your planner since I have found it so useful for both personal & business management. Nothing else compares to it for me. I personally wouldn’t mind if you needed to limit the number of of available design options….simplify, no? I use the 8×11 version, with daily views for lots of tasks…sometimes it’s not good for me to have too many design choices! haha OR, you could group everything by “theme”…blue paisley theme, pink gingham theme, etc. Whatever makes it easier for you. I can’t imagine people would complain with all that you are doing. And it’s been FREE for so many years, whoever complains about anything free is a toad.
Ivana says
I am definitely downloading it! I went for the full version last year and loved it, can’t wait to see the new one!
Christy says
THANK YOU for all of your hard work on this planner. This is my absolute favorite planner–release day is one of the best days of the year!
I’ve been using it for 5-6 years now and will continue to use it as long as it is available. I use the month, year-at-a-glance, contact and birthday/anniversary pages for myself as well as my two kiddos. We love being able to pick our own designs each month to make our planners our own. We’d be happy to print blank months if it meant it took a load off your plate.
I also use several of the different goal pages with my husband each year.
Thank you again!
Angie says
I’ve used your planner for years now and so appreciate what your doing!! Honestly though, you offer SO MUCH more than I use or need. I love the idea of a blank months. I feel like that is a win for all of us; less time consuming for you and reusable for us. And I would still very happily, with no hesitation, pay for a blank version. Don’t go into a dark endless hole for this. 😉 Enjoy your summer and family!!!
Jennifer Howell says
I am new to all of this and looking forward to downloading my first planner. I would vote for possible months printed or blank because I too, as an early comment stated, hate my handwriting – and would love the cute fonts/designs you have.
Janalyn says
YOUR planner is my FAVORITE! I use the calendar and the weekly pages. Do whatever is easiest for you. <3 <3 <3

Hello,
I’ve been using the planner for a couple of years now, and I love it! The options, the format, the flexibility are all great assets for me.
As a francophone from Quebec, the blank planner would be great, because while I am perfectly bilingual, I do love stuff in my own language.
Thank you for all your work.
Kelsi Compton says
I am with many others when I say, I am so happy to use whatever you make available! I don’t mind putting in the technical work and paying a reasonable fee to use your beautiful designs!
Time with your family trumps a perfect planner for the world! 🙂
Thank you for all your work in the past and I am grateful for anything you put out in the future!
Ute says
Thanks for the calendar! I have been using it for the last 3 years, and for me it is the best I could find. Please do not put too much effort in the calendar for next year(s), but do not stop offering this to your customers. It is really great!
Regards from Germany!
Rebecca says
I love your planner and will definitely download several pages! Please keep the horizontal monthly sheets! Thanks for all your hard work!

I love your planner! I have never found a “pre-made” planner that I like. I need months to get the big stuff captured (and things far in the future) and I need weekly so I can get a little more detailed but I also sometimes need daily. Being able to print what I need as I need it amazing! Your planner is the first planner I’ve ever felt was really functional for me.
Thank you for all the hard work and time you put in.
I’ll just add that I came here just looking for next year’s monthly pages. I love the 2 page format you added. And undated calendars are lovely. Your work is beautiful!
Isabelle says
Hello,
It’s been 4 years since I discovered your planners and I fell in love with them.
You have a fan from Belgium and I share your wonderful work with my friends.
Thank you for everything, I wish you all the happiness in the world

A blank planner would be amazing! I just downloaded this, thinking it would get me through the school year. I was bummed to realize it didn’t, just as soon as I paid for it and started downloading files. My fault though. I should’ve dug deeper. I just saw how PRETTY it was and immediately returned the planner I had already purchased. :/
Donna Xenakis says
First, I want to thank you for the beautiful planners you have designed for us over the years! Next I want to say: do what is best for you, I will be excited and grateful with whatever you decide. God Bless!
