Hey hey hey!
Thank you all so much for your super sweet comments last week. We’re just thrilled to have our home put back together-the kids have already played so much in this space, it’s worth every moment.
So it only took us like, an entire week but we’re back today with our playroom resources! Hurray!
The first answer to your most-asked burning question: Where did you get that rug?! We scored this beauty on sale at Zinc Door. We love the design and versatile feel with its bold colors.
Our sofa? We analyzed all of the possibilities for seating in this space. We knew we wanted something versatile, that would grow with the kiddos. When we spied this piece, we loved the way that it can be rearranged no matter what space we use it in later. So again, we waited for this (A bit of an investment piece) to go on sale and then took the plunge. This sofa is from PB teen, and it cleans up fabulously, it’s sturdy, and we’ll be using it for years to come. We’re very happy with it – in case anyone else is considering taking the dive. Just look carefully at what pieces you’re ordering – their site can be a little tricky. ;}
Our fabrics for the pillows + window treatments (tutorials coming up soon!) were generously provided to us by Online Fabric Store. They have a beautiful selection, and we were excited to bring a few unexpected combos into our space. Clockwise from left to right: Oatmeal Irish Linen, Portfolio Sparkle Gold Fabric (my absolute fave – squeee!) Portfolio Riad Clove Fabric, Premier Prints Striped Salmon Slub Fabric + Braemore Gorgeous Petal Fabric We also used a few of their amazing pillow forms which were perfect for the project.
We filled the room up with a lot of vintage, childhood hand-me-downs, and flea market scores to make the space personal and real. The wire and burlap holders + baskets are from Hobby Lobby (altered with gold spray paint)
And you can read all about how to make our handmade arrow in our book, here.
The table on the left was a twelve dollar score from Target on the clearance aisle (we like to balance out those investment pieces with the über cheap and practical) + you can read all about our lamp – a bit of an Anthro knockoff (also from target) here.
I scooped up a a touch of this houndstooth fabric from Forsyth, and intended to make some pillows with it… but loved the way it looked as a “throw” instead. Call me lazy, but I embraced the selvage edge and rolled with it.
Our art was handmade by us – tutorial coming up!
Small items for book ends, like these roosters (also scored from the clearance bin at Target and spray painted gold) made great tie-ins and sturdy pieces for the bookshelves.
The brass label holders are from here.
This fab light was one of those (total impulse buy) purchases at the local flea market. I knew I wanted to use it, but wasn’t sure where it would go… While you guys know I’ve been on an organization mission for our home for a year now, and I’m totally anti-clutter… sometimes those “impulse buys” pay off ;}
The blue on the walls are Benjamin Moore’s Pacific Palisades and the green is Once Upon a Time. (Again, I’m showing my word nerd tendency. Those titles will sometimes push me over the edge…I can’t help myself) The grey color on the barn doors is Eagle Rock. (tutorial coming up!)
We were thrilled to work with NW Artisan Hardware -they provided the awesome hardware for these barn doors. (Again, full tutorials on these + all the shelving coming your way) Venture to their site and be prepared to drool!
The rug in the closet is from World Market. And the pendant light (Once hanging in our veranda (which is now the studio) is from Ballard. – I don’t currently see it in full size but it is the woven seagrass.
You can read all about our toy organization here. (With free printables!)
The kids love this room. It’s a true joy to finally be able to see some of the things they own, and watch them play board games, video games, read and relax in this space.
They gave us a definite thumbs up!
Please let us know if you have any questions – thanks again + have an inspired day!

Where did the tv stand come from? Is it an expedit hack?

Hey Becca! All of the shelving you see (cubbies included) were built from scratch. We have tutorials coming up on that, soon! 🙂

Great room! We are constantly in redesign mode, esp with kids.
Prob the highlight is the box labeled weapons. Hahahaha! Love it!
I have two girls and two boys. And I just didn’t know about the prominence of weaponry until the boys came along. They are only 2 and 5, so this will probably get even better! We may soon have a weaponry box – I can dream…
Seriously, love the honesty! It is refreshing. And good luck with homeschooling – it is always in the back of my head….
🙂
Happy Halloween!

Your playroom reveal came at the perfect time! I love your use of the PB Teen couch. We are needing our playroom to also serve as a guest room when family comes. Do you think the cushions would be comfortable enough to sleep on if we transformed the set into a bed when company visited using the flat cushions without backs? I appreciate your input since I’ve not seen them in person.

Hey Marianne! It might work. It’s pretty firm, so I guess it depends on how you want to use it. Did you know they have some that actually transform into beds? Be sure to check those out, too. The backs have metal rods in them, so I’m not sure removing the backs would be the most comfortable. (??) I hope that helps a little!

Currently remodeling an old farmhouse and hoping to move soon. Trying to come up with new ideas for artwork since this house is so much bigger than our current house. We are in the south so when I say your ‘y’all’ artwork, I knew I had to make one! Can’t wait for the tutorial on that! This would be awesome for our ‘new’ house! LOVE IT!!! I love the other items too. What a great room!

This is a gorgeous room! Could you source the y’all print above the sofa? I need that in my life! Thanks dear!
ashley @ the handmade home says
