We’re so thrilled to announce a new series we’ve begun here at The Handmade Home. It’s one of our very favorite topics, and we do hope you’ll love it, too. We’re bringing in combos of items from actual sample selections that we have on hand. We’ve tracked some down, and we’re pulling them all together to share fun room creations based on something you can actually use in your own homes, and build on.
The idea is to hopefully inspire, and show you what the combo is all about. A great base for pulling it all together. And the possibilities for spaces, to boot. So, let’s begin shall we? Polish it off.
The Eclectic Kitchen
This space is perfect for hosting and gathering with an effortless style that can easily evolve over time. We adore the combo of unexpected pattern and color to create a space that is so fun. We say kitchen, but this style is so easy, it could flow into just about anywhere, from a basement remodel to a sunroom, bathroom and more. Here are the products that we love so much:
• The tile – It’s no secret that we adore Jeffrey Court. Here we brought together their geometric wood-look octagon {cabin fever} and paired it with a dash of global for a touch of Marrakech. {You may recall this simple kitchen makeover here with the same lovely tile.} We picture the octagon on the floor for a touch of the unexpected, but really, you could contrast the two just about anywhere.
• Wallpaper – We couldn’t help but bring in a touch of our wallpaper we used from Anthro {it may look familiar from our very own basement remodel}. It brings in another organic element. A striking statement without being too over the top.
• Cabinets – We’d love to see the main cabinets in a nice soft Sherwin Williams Mindful Gray, to effortlessly pull the moving parts together. A gorgeous classic green in SW Artichoke would be a classic touch with a bit of an unexpected twist.
• Fabric – These fun prints can be found here + balanced out with a nice warm linen here. Whether buffet pillows or simple panels for the windows, bringing in a touch of both in different ways would help pull it all together.
• Shades – we adore the touch of natural that woven shades can bring to a space. Check out Select Blind’s Tahitian Sun for this look.
• Hardware – When I mentioned cabinets, did I say inset? Because super classic, and topped off with these gorgeous brass latches would be an amazing finishing touch, alongside these knobs. A little bit unexpected with a whole lot of fun.
The Luxe Bath
Pair these combos with a sleek clawfoot tub, open shower, and amazing fixtures and mirrors. It’s so luxurious, you’ll never want to leave. We’re picturing therapeutic baths and a step in shower with multiple faucets just because you can. For what it’s worth, this would also make one handsome kitchen… just mix it up a little in the applications. Here are the products that we love so much:
• The tile – Here’s Jeffrey Court again since they’re oh so wonderful. Flooring in their Carlyle Nero Marquina, marble mosaic tile. Paired with a beveled subway in 1/3 brick pattern for a sharp, polished look.
• Vanity – Black and sleek with a white marble top would look oh so gorgeous, paired with polished chrome fixtures for the win. Color: Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black.
• Fabric – Simple and sleek, the striped fabric can be found here, and looks oh so effortless when paired with a nice clean herringbone stone. From curtains to bringing it in to pair with white fluffy towels, it would look clean and effortless.
• Hardware – We’re loving the combo of pulls and knobs… a simple modern simplicity to polish it all off.
The Preppy Kitchen
For someone who organizes their cooking supplies organized in a way that Martha Stewart would envy. Life in this fresh space is a reflection of the prettiest of patterns, while keeping it all succinct. The only thing missing is a Kitchenaid mixer in the same color to make it pop, stashed away next to those farm fresh eggs scooped up at the local farmer’s market. For what it’s worth, this look would also translate effortlessly into an adorable bath. Here are the products that we love so much:
• The tile – Jeffrey Court of course. If you think the photo of this tile is cute with the nod to argyle and all things prepster, wait until you run your hands across it. The smoothness of their aptly named Madras Cotton natural stone mosaic tile will absolutely wow you. We also adore it paired with this nice grey bevel subway to add an unexpected combo.
• Cabinets – YES to all things gorgeous blue. We actually have a kitchen redo coming up for some of our very sweetest clients in this fabulous color, so stay tuned for how well it plays in real life. Color: SW Indigo Batik
• Fabric – Yes to rifle paper company. And these gorgeous stripes for contrast. Yes to all things banquette with a great, polished look in all things pillows, and more. It’s an opportunity to bring in that polished look with so much character.
• Hardware – DUH. Would we put anything but a bright brass on that gorgeous blue? I think not. We adore the look of these easy hooks, too. For all those amazingly organized kitchen supplies and adorable aprons you’re sure to incorporate just for fun. Both options the epitome of prepster, it truly polishes it off.

So isn’t the pairing up of inspiring finishes fun? I guess you could say this is a ‘tester’ of sorts, so we’d like to hear from you!
What themes would you like to see in the future? You name a name, and we’ll create it. Any color base you’d like to see us work around? A specific room? You can give us a request, and we’ll create something around it, just for fun. We love a bit of a challenge, and we hope to both inspire and share in the world of sources and fun ideas. The possibilities are always endless.
Let us know what you think! We’d love to hear.
Have an inspired day!
Ooh, I love this! The last one is my favorite – I’d love that color blue on my cabinets! We bought an old disgusting dresser at a consignment shop and painted it that shade of blue and turned it into our tv cabinet. It even has gold pulls like that.
Definitely do more of these! It always amazes me what people can pull together. These have inspired me to have an excuse to fill my cart at Target with lots and lots of things in the name of “pattern research!”
This is amazing! I love this idea. Please do more! I don’t care what it is. That tile is gorgeous!
Oh my goodness. What a great idea! All those combos are so great. Thank you for all the awesome ideas and yes please keep them coming
It’s beautiful! I adore the preppy kitchen. That tile is so unique and fun! What do you think about it on the floor of a bathroom?
