Like, whatever happened to Limp Bizkit anyway? Circa 2000 anyone? I had to google, because I’m really not that cool, and thought it was spelled Limp Biscuit all this time. And I was a baby when this song came out. {20, yo.} Because the title seemed oddly suitable since the momentum has started again.
I’m feeling really old right about now.
I think the last metaphor we left you with in the money pit saga was Leonardo pulling a wolves of Wall Street and throwing money off his yacht. That was pretty much us, minus the kazillion to waste. We also want to say, that we appreciate all of your helpful input and support, so much. We’ve chosen to go with this route for now, and if we don’t hear from septic soon, we’ll figure something else out because well, that’s what we do. But we’re moving forward for now.
So if you’re just tuning in, then we had some fireplace plans to hone in on, and then an update on new windows.
The sweet sights and sounds of progress, y’all. I feel like we’re looking at all of this, doing all that we can and just holding our breath.
But for today, we’re rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ or something else that sounds super cool/tough.
Move out the way, y’all. Move out the way.
{Picture me in baggy pants and a crooked hat with my white tank, wearing my Mr. T. Starter Kit and giant sunglasses. And white sneakers. Always the white sneakers. I’m looking at you, Sons of Anarchy. Jax really needs to reel that one in.} I would have photoshopped something but I’m under the weather and can’t be bothered. So this is the mental image I leave you with today.
Because we’re moving forward. FINALLY.
They finished out the framing, and the plumbing.
And while we were galavanting in NYC, {read: so glad we didn’t die, because I just may haunt the septic inspectors} we were approved on electrical and framing + plumbing inspections to move forward.
As Jamin says, “It’s a MARACLE.”
It’s basically a maracle we haven’t gone belly up from sheer stress.
The house is still an absolute wreck. But it’s amazing how a little sticker or two can make you feel when it’s plastered to your front door.
So the insulation has been sprayed in.
And the following day, it was added to the walls – Jamin snapped this photo with his phone as I was at home sick with a post-travel cold.
Yep. I really don’t travel well.
And drywall starts this week! We were able to finally slide our little time capsule in, as well.
We’ve come a long way, baby. Even if it’s in sllllloooooooooooow motion.
We’re so excited we can barely contain ourselves. You can even see those windows that have been framed out beginning to take shape. It’s where those turn of the century stained glass windows are going in as transoms. (You can follow the window process starting here.)
They’re going to be glorious.
And the fireplace is starting to shape up nicely, too.
Brick should go in soon, as well.
So thus my song today. Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’… you’re welcome for that ear worm, if you remember it.
We’re diving in with all things paint, soon. Wheeeeeeeeeee!
I feel like I end every post like this in regards to the house…Wish us luck.
And as always, stay tuned.

I googled Rollin’ and immediately got a headache. I’m so glad I’m a product of the late 70’s early 80’s – Elvis Costello, Blondie, Cars, Joe Jackson, whew, close call!

Amen. I wasn’t… but ignored it when it came out. HA! It was pretty unfortunate. ;D

That photo shopped picture of you and your husband sitting on the roof is hilarious!! I’m sorry you don’t feel good but so glad to hear that you are rollin, rollin, rollin along. Praying that you feel much, much better really, really soon.

I would go batty! Hang in there.

Looks great! It looks like my house has a very similar floor plan to yours, and I’m looking to vault our ceiling in the kitchen/living room/dining room area – basically exactly what you did. Would you mind sharing with me (privately via email if you are more comfortable) the approximate cost of this project and what the biggest challenges were? Like moving duct work, wiring, etc? I would really appreciate it!

Hey Katie,
We’d be happy to to try to help you, but it’s also important to remember prices change by the region you live in, the availability of supplies and of course how much construction is going on in your area will determine labor rates, if you are hiring out, and how much of the work you are hiring out will affect it. We are doing a mixture of both. Obviously the best thing to do is price local materials and labor, but touch base with you via email and see if I can answer more specific questions.
