Hello friends! We’re back for the last part of our Rockin’ the Holidays with our gift wrapping ideas!
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m always a big fan of simple paper, and strings. I’m like a walking cliché with my brown paper packages and other traditionalist whatnots.
But here we have some brown paper packages on ‘roids. A tasteful dose, of course.
So we found some simple, ‘plain jane’ paper at our local craft store (Michael’s) and paired it up with twine, fun patterned tape, and glitter tape.
PS. I may have a bit of a tape problem, in general. But everyone needs pretty tapes in their lives. I held out forever, and then started an insta-collection of glitter tape with a giant coupon last week, and now that I’ve accumulated a few rolls, it’s the little things. It takes me back to Hello Kitty romps to the mall circa 1984 when nothing mattered more than the latest graphic imprint of animals in clothes for anything I could grab. But for adults. So I simply layered them up in different ways, playing with the color. And then finished them off with a makeshift “ornament” for a gift topper. It’s a little happy for your trimmings.
To make an ornament like this, I used this clay
…And a simple fondant cutter. {Check the baking aisle of aforementioned craft store for all types of shapes-my kids are obsessed.}
To leave an initial, I used my kids stamps – just be sure to wipe away the ink, first. (Also, any little cardboard letter would do, so check the scrapbooking section for embellishments – they’re also a great idea if you’re coming up short on letters)
Check out this tutorial for step by step photos – but I filled in the gaps with some gold leafing paint, and simply baked according to the box.
With jute and baker’s twine, I added that last touch on top of the layered tape… and tada! It’s a simple little pretty package. PS. see me one day before Christmas shoving things into bags that I found stashed in my pantry… but at least these few packages will be pretty! ;} And no, I haven’t started my shopping yet. I know. For shame. Thanks, Amazon.
Oh, and Pssst… that fur is totally faux. Just had to let ya know. In case you were worried, and then wanted some of your own. I did not kill a snowleopardzebrafox. See: pillows coming your way for some winter coziness up in here.
Have you guys done your shopping yet? We’re keeping it simple this year, but if I can get my act together, maybe all our gifts will have a little glitz! The kids certainly love them.

I love this idea for wrapping gifts! I myself have a collection of different tapes – fabric tapes, paper tapes, decorative tapes. I don’t have a glittery tape though and washi tapes. Need to get some of that as well next month 🙂

It will rock your gift wrapping world! ;}

Cute, Ashley! I always have the best of intentions with wrapping things in cute ways, but that doesn’t always happen in the craziness of Christmas!! Thanks for the cute ideas – I’ve got a little collection of tape that’s just waiting to be used for this purpose!

HAHA! Me too. These will be pretty, and the rest will be covered in garbage bags and slammed under the tree the night before. Kiddingnotkidding ;}

Whew! I was going to have to digitally picket your blog. The snowleopardzebrafox is my favorite animal! 😉
Seriously though, I love this simple packaging! I’m planning to use some brown paper wrapped in fabric scraps this year, but I love the idea of using washi tape. Genius!

Shopping? Seriously? Ummmm…..negative.
Unless you count the dollar bins at Target. 🙂
Happy, happy weekend to you!

What fun package inspiration!

Washi tape and glitter tape collecting bring me back to the days of my “sticker book” and trading stickers at recess with my friends! Except now, I don’t trade…the tape is all mine! (insert evil laugh here)
