Since home offices are still on the rise and working from home is a trend no one {understandably} really wants to let go of, we thought we’d share some of our best tips for creating your own office space. Or homework space… for that matter. Because working in your pajamas is kind of awesome. And from large spaces with an entire room dedicated to your purpose all the way to a charming corner that works hard, and everything in between… we’re sharing tips for creating your own office space.

1. Simple Tips for Creating Your Own Office Space: Consider your needs
What are your needs? Because in a space that works hard for you, everything should start with this one question.
Do you have multiple surfaces that you want to work on, for more of a studio vibe? Do you have multiple screens which require more than one desk? Do you need more storage than most because of all the elements your job requires? Do you like to stand and work during the day?
We really believe it helps to look at the space objectively, considering your top needs. So start with a list and work from there. It helps to make sure you’re happier in the long run. Maybe it’s a custom handmade desk like the one above, with lots of storage all around. Maybe it’s a table for painting, or just a quiet corner in your bedroom. The more you can meet your needs in the space, the better off you’ll be.

2. Simple Tips for Creating Your Own Office Space: Create a Barrier
{If possible, of course.} We realize not every home can have multiple rooms or a new wall built to accommodate. But if there’s an old formal dining room no one really uses, or valuable real estate somewhere, it can help to make sure there’s some kind of defining space when it comes to an office.
Maybe it’s just an existing divider. Maybe the space is positioned on a wall like the one seen below, or doors to keep it open while still offering privacy. It’s always a good idea to consider spaces in new ways and think through how you can use it.

This one is technically a kiddo’s space. And it’s technically in the hallway. But it’s a command center that the whole family can use. So even if it’s just a partial wall, it’s important to have clear, defined boundaries between work and home, so that the lines aren’t blurred. {And yes, we’re speaking figuratively too.}
This space simply speaks to the diversity of work from home spaces, and the possibilities when you start thinking outside the box.
3. Simple Tips for Creating Your Own Office Space: Make it Comfy
It’s not the 90’s anymore, and there are more options available than The Office Depot. So what we’re trying to say, is that ergonomic chairs can actually be attractive now.
Think through what can be the most comfy for you. Do you like to mix it up on the sofa with a laptop? Or a comfy chair with lots of bells and whistles? The possibilities really are endless and comfort, from a fluffy rug to the way a desk angles can make a big difference.
4. Simple Tips for Creating Your Own Office Space: Good Lighting is Essential
Because lighting can come from lots of different options, it’s awesome to think through all the possibilities. While windows and natural daylight are a game changer, sometimes that isn’t an option. So chandeliers to sconces, desk lamps and more… think through what you can use for good lighting. Especially when there are no windows available for that natural light. We’re firm believers in the game changing abilities of good lights.
5. Simple Tips for Creating Your Own Office Space: Display What You Love
From art from your kids to your favorite finds in old books, and your favorite flea market discoveries… make the space happy and you. You’ll probably spend more time here than anywhere else during the day, or even on those “days where you’re supposed to work less”. So make it as you as possible… so you enjoy the process a little more.

Perfect! Every single space is delightfully perfect. Thank you for sharing. Is the lovely floral wallpaper behind the shelves peel and stick or rolled?
