Last week we were happy to wrap up this fun project, with a study, dining and living area, kitchen and main bathroom remodel. Our sweet clients were ready for a functional change to update their home, and we were more than thrilled to work on this project with them. Photo shoots of our clients homes, for us, are always bittersweet because they actually require a lot of work, but it also means we’re wrapping up the project. So we’re always a little exhausted/excited/sentimental about it all.
Their front area upon entering the main entrance door was formerly a long, formal living room to the left. It led directly to columns which opened into the dining room ahead.
Since this project happened in the middle of Covid, it really helped our clients figure out what they wanted from this space. So dividing it up into an office that she could use while working remotely, just made sense in the best way possible. {Also, that skeleton in the before is hilarious.}
So a wall was added in between the two windows that you see here. This house also had a very updated-in-2002 vibe, with columns galore, which the current owners were more than happy to see go. So simplifying walls and cleaning up corners with cleaner lines, was the first thing on the list.
These beautiful Artisan Hardware barn doors were custom designed just for the space. We love their doors so much, we’ve used plenty of their hardware + doors in our own home.
What we love about these {other than the fact that everything is available for custom orders, and the fact that they’re absolutely gorgeous} is that they come with a soft close feature. It’s perfect for little fingers, and just that satisfying glide, amongst other things.
These are constructed of metal and glass and oh so beautiful for their space.
This way she can work in the study as needed, without totally feeling closed off from the rest of the house, and it also helps preserve a nice, open feel.
We also love this little conversation area that now happens right outside of their study. Before, it was a bit of an awkwardly long space, but now all the rooms have more intention and purpose. And the grecian columns/pillars are also gone-zo, so this is another win.
We loved giving her study some personality with easy, open shelving and a nice place to work.
Per usual, we topped it all off with a stunning Kichler Light. Their Morrigan 15″ light, is like good jewelry to a fabulous outfit. We love what this light {and all the other Kichler fixtures we added to the other spaces} do for their rooms.
There’s just something awesome about this soft, colorful view, and all the fun details. It’s so warm and welcoming!

Which leads us back to what we gave you… a sneak peek of in the beginning: the dining room!
Here’s that view from the other direction, pre-removal of columns and addition of the study.
So fresh and so clean clean!
Their dining space was already in great shape, we just helped give it a little refresh of sorts.
It’s amazing what a little paint and lighting can do!
This Kichler Light really helped anchor the space, and put a modern spin on traditional furnishings.
We love the Erzo 8-light chandelier in natural brass for a ton of character over that table!
Of course, we love bringing in sweet, personal touches for our clients and these photos are just the most precious. A nice, simple approach are these frames which make it easy to do.
Paint colors:
The paint colors used throughout this remodel, are Sherwin Williams First Star, which honestly seems to change with the light as it goes, from an off white/grey to a definite undertone of blue.
We paired it with Snowbound {the same colors you’ll see next on the kitchen cabinets, too.}
We just love the simple change in this view!
Fireplace + Tile:
Their fireplace got a whole new facelift, with Jeffrey Court’s Park Place – the same line that we have in our pool room and are absolutely obsessed with.
Their tile used here, is Terrace on the Park, in Manhattan Sky. The blue is absolutely gorgeous and we love how new and classic the final look feels for their dining room space!
In the same area with their photo wall, our clients had this little buffet that was still a great shape, but just needed a little freshening up. She took it on herself with our furniture painting tutorial, and she did an amazing job.
She found these knobs for a great update and we think it looks oh so fresh and clean now. It’s always good to rehab some things and give them a new lease on life.

This fabulous art over their fireplace is actually from a local artist here in Nashville.
Read more about her, here! This painting brought in so much fun color to the space.
We just love all these pretty views.
Which leads us to the kitchen…
Because this before and after is pretty amazing, if we do say so ourselves.
This is how the kitchen looked before, and was in need of an update.
Because they did not wish to replace their perfectly good cabinets, we decided that the best approach for this kitchen was cosmetic updates. One of the biggest changes for their home, started with unifying the floors. This house has been remodeled a few times with the flooring being quite different throughout. So they were happy to change out the floors, and unify everything. It made the spaces seem larger, more intentional, and classic.
The cabinets were given a nice shade of Snowbound, as mentioned above.
Then switching out the countertops + the backsplash were total game changers.
In turn, changing out these colors really softened the lines of an otherwise dated kitchen, to give it more of a timeless feel.
Backsplash + Tile:
Once again, we were thrilled to bring in Jeffrey Court’s Park Place for the backsplash, in Gapstow Mosaic.
It’s absolutely timeless, gives it a one of a kind look, and we’re definitely smitten.
Did we mention it sparkles in the sunlight?
Seriously you guys, it’s gorgeous, and honestly makes the space feel larger.
Another game changer for the space is the major character that these Kichler Pendants brought in to the kitchen. I’ve been eyeing these Aster lights forever and love that these sweet clients were game for bringing them into their home. They did so much for the space.
Sometimes putting a home back together in a renovation is a lot like placing together a well thought-out puzzle. With a few unexpected surprises in between. Older homes aren’t always perfect {no home is} but they do tend to present their own challenges. These ended up over the kitchen peninsula, and we think they were the perfect placement.
Just another glimpse of that fabulous backsplash!
Barstools from here.
And another view of those fabulous pendants into the oh so pretty dining room!
We think that painting these cabinets with a fresh coat of white, and adding these fun elements definitely offset the unusual shape. It brought a more traditional, timeless vibe to the final look.
We also used this side of the kitchen as an opportunity to bring in more of that Jeffrey Court backsplash. We took it all the way to the ceiling for a natural break and love the effect it lends to the sometimes forgotten places.
It definitely makes the fun quirks of older homes look as though spaces like this have always been there.
Organization:
They also finished off their kitchen with this message board to save their much-needed counter space.
We’re all about that organization! And again, these countertops. They’re like drool-worthy conversation pieces, and I fell in love when we chose them that day.
More Lighting:
These photos never do the amazingness that is under cabinet lighting, justice. But we added these Kichler tape lights to their kitchen as well, and it completely changed the ambience of their kitchen.
We love that you can put them on dimmer switches which make it perfect for all things late night lighting in the kitchen. I think we’re just dying to install some in our closets, and the pantry in our main addition, coming soon.
We also added this Kichler Ellerbeck Sconce in natural brass to this little wall, as a great space for more fun details and kiddo artwork.
We love this bulletin board from here.
Hardware:
The hardware was updated on the cabinets with these awesome pieces from D.Lawless… and we love the classic look they bring to the space.
Faucet:
This Artesos® Pull Down Prep Faucet from Brizo was perfect for the kitchen space.
Per Brizo’s site, these faucets are inspired by factories of the earlier 20th century, with a more refined finish, and the pull down option makes for great one-handed kitchen work. It comes with their DIAMOND™ Seal Technology, and we adore putting great products in client homes that we know they can count on over the years.
This view though.
Everything has such a beautiful look now!

Which leads us, finally, to the main suite bathroom.
This bath in their main bedroom was in much need of an update. These sweet clients wanted a separate tub + shower, and needed the entire space to be reconfigured for a simpler arrangement. We think that everyone deserves their own spa-like escape, and we were excited to create that just for them.
And we had a little fun in the process, too.
The soaking tub now sits where the smaller vanity once did, and we knocked down the small divider walls to accommodate more space.
Tile:
Jeffrey Court HD tile to the rescue!
We loved simplifying their floor in this beautiful white Dream Hex, and icing on the cake is this gorgeous subway in Aquamarine Blue. There’s something about the juxtaposition of two classic shapes with two completely different applications. The Dream Hex flooring with its geometric approach in a clean finish, and the Aquamarine Blue with its handmade look and varied colors are a winning combo. It definitely brings in an area of interest to the bathroom!
Bye walls. We were thrilled to open it all up, and bring in some fun personality.
The new design is clean and simple, with a whole lot of fun, to boot.
We love how bright and open it all feels now for that final, classic yet modern look.
We’ll discuss more of this below, but you can see in this before and after, where we were able to knock this wall back {a closet} which made room for moving the vanity to this side of the space.
Faucets:
• Shower faucet –
The shower faucet + handle are Delta’s Stryke® 14 Series Shower Only In Champagne Bronze.
Their modern, sleek lines lend so much to a simple shower addition.

We love the subtle modern, yet masculine lines they brought to the bath.
______
Bonus info for the nerds out there like us… Because this is truly one of our favorite parts:
What we really love the most about this, is that it has TempAssure™ Technology, which keeps the temperature consistent by precisely measuring and automatically adjusting the hot and cold water mix. That means it keeps it safe for little hands to not experience a sudden surge in temperature because water is being used elsewhere in the house.
Remember that old bit about flushing the toilet in the bathroom which results in a scream from someone showering? When the settings are in place, TempAssure™ Technology prevents sudden dangerous fluctuations in water temperature. We love this for every home, especially older ones, and spaces with children.
• Lighting:
You probably guessed… Kichler!
As mentioned above, moving their vanity over was possible by taking out a small closet that existed both in the bath, and on the other side of their bedroom. So it made more space for this vanity, and a new reconfiguration of the entire bathroom. We love the way that the Alton 3 Light Vanity Light in natural brass brings so much warmth and interest to their space.
