For the first time in a long time, we gave our little bedroom a refresh the other day with the fabulous Crane and Canopy, just in time for fall. We went for soft bedding elements, great pieces, and deeper colors to give it a fresh new look! Updating a bedroom for fall.
Let’s start with a little reminder on how far we’ve come. ;} Because when I get discouraged over our septic situation and building the master addition, {we have a whole post coming up on that, but we that this brings you up to speed with just how massively confusing it can all be if you have no idea what I’m talking about} I just take myself back here. Because these are tiny problems, we’ve come a long way, and we love our in-the-meantime bedroom, especially when we freshen it up with pieces we love!

Here’s another fabulous before, so you get the idea.
And here’s what it looks like now!
We ended up bumping out the wall on our tiny master bath, and knocking out the closet entirely, to expand both. It may not seem like much, but just a few feet go a very long way. We found these fabulous stained glass windows {from an old university dating back to the turn of the century} at the local flea market, and ended up placing two in our kitchen, and one in this barn door. We adore the look.
So, we decided to bring in a little color for fall!
Bedding:
When we moved in, we used all of our older pieces, with the exception of adding a new bookshelf for a little much needed extra storage.
But we were initially thrilled to use this gorgeous duvet from Crane and Canopy, on the bed. We must say, we’ve used it non stop, all year long. So this season, we decided to give it a fresh update with some complementary pieces from them, as well.
We added their euro shams in the same collection to polish it off for a clean, simple look. They brighten and simplify.
But the biggest treat? Their sateen sheets! We were so thrilled to try the page blue sheets in the prettiest of patterns for a nice hit of deep navy blue in the space. They’re like wrapping yourself in a silky cloud to sleep.
We also added this amazing navy blue quilt at the foot of the bed for an extra layer of color and cozy.
The winters get rainy and cold here, so I have a feeling you can find me wrapped up in this one pretty often. We love the little geometric pattern it holds! We’ve used their quilts in our children’s rooms, and let me tell you… they just get softer with each wash!
Light: Waking up to a sparkly chandelier and blue ceilings with a fun stained glass barn door, make for a happy view.
Tables:
You may have noticed we added some new bedside tables – they were much needed. We had our old ones because they arrived damaged in the mail years ago, and I kept and rehabbed them. But the drawers on both never worked properly; it took quite the acrobatic feat to get them open. So we are thrilled to have some grown up bedside tables while the old ones went to a better place: the habitat store. We love the deep blue they bring into the space!
Lamps:
The lamps are an old school flea market find years ago. I think I only paid five dollars a piece for them and they’re very old – similar look here. –When they die, I’ll be replacing them with these.
Bed: We actually get a lot of questions about our bed, which can still be found here.
Rug: And we loved bringing in some fresh bright colors in a much needed rug change up! We needed something a little sturdier under foot on top of hardwoods with two crazed 70 pounders, who like to sleep at the foot of the bed.
This is a dresser we’ve had for years now, once a deep cherry and given a facelift years ago. We still love it.
Mirror: The mirror has really opened up the space and can be found here!
Pillow: Lumbar pillow from here.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s: The Aphrodite recycled glass head was originally from La-Z-Boy years ago, and still one of my favorite little pieces. I tried to track it down and can’t seem to find it anywhere a-la availability, but I do love this Breakfast at Tiffany’s eye Mask! {Purchase one here.}
Baskets: We actually use these baskets on our bookshelf for storing clothes. Because our current closet situation is super cramped, we actually switch them around and they give us lots of space.
Bookends: Bookends found here.
Jewelry Holder: This is a vintage glove mold I found at the flea market a few years back. I use it to hold all the things and love it as the perfect jewelry holder!
I’m a painter/designer and that always brings in such a conundrum with all things wall space and limited real estate. I wanted to add a little color to the space so I took on a bit of a quick weekend project with this almost-abstract piece. Love the light airiness it brings to the room!
