A few weekends ago, we were honored to be a part of a beautiful wedding in Pike Road, Alabama. As I alluded on Friday, this was a very sweet occasion for us…one of our former youth ministry kids {she’s not so little anymore-and was in the seventh grade when we arrived!} tied the knot.
The Mills family was a bit of a three ring circus act that day. Jamin performed the ceremony, the part of flower girl/ring bearers were played by our three kiddos, I helped style/coordinate… and Chloe (our crazy, well-trained first child/dog) helped serve the cake.
JK. That would be gross. Just wanted to see if you were reading.
The shindig took place at a home that had great bones, and a lot of potential. But it needed a little personality and a whole lot of style in the space to make it special. And it truly takes a village for these things, y’all.
From sweet tea in mason jars to fans and fried chicken…pretty flowers and lace…It was the epitome of southern culture at it’s best. I was a little too frazzled to capture it all with my camera. (I had a job to do, after all ;} ) So we brought in a friend help with this post-Britsnap Photography was also present, as the official photog of the night. He was gracious enough to let us share a few of his images today, as well. Here’s a a glimpse of this special occasion, on the stylin’ side of things.
From beautiful wild flowers (my first time to work with some of the flowers on the decor side for a wedding-they were great for adding punches of color + interesting texture in those obscure corners) to literal pieces of furniture and a little chalkboard art…from barn doors to vases and everything in between, It was great to bring in some personalized pieces to deck out the house.
Oooooooo….Aaaaahhhhh….Don’t you love their colors?
I adore her dress.
And that flower girl.
The cutest little candy bar that you ever did see…my kids couldn’t resist.
Cue nerdy face picture mid decor mission…Proof that I was there!
Lauren thought of everything…from a table for family members who are no longer with us, to a coloring page for the little ones. {Hilariously enough, of the bride and groom themselves}
And whelp… as all weddings go, and if you’ve ever been married…you know something always, inevitably goes wrong. It’s the number one rule of weddings. It’s what makes life so fun. So as fate would have it, the day of the wedding was beautiful…until the ceremony.
So we had to call a short time out.
But as you can see, it was well worth the wait. And no one seemed to mind.
Just a shout out to the bridal party: I’ve never been part of a wedding with a more on-top-of-it set of bridesmaids and groomsmen. They were scary efficient. Like a well oiled machine. They had their jobs and they did them well. I was proud.
The ring bearers on the other hand…
{Yes, Malone stopped dead cold before the grass. Because it was wet. There’s a photo of me yanking his arm…Whatevs. No judging. At least he didn’t fall face first into the grass…}
Isn’t the ceremony gorgeous? It was worth the wait! That minister is pretty hawt, too.
Oh…and a big shout out to the father of the groom and that beautiful handmade arbor!
It was a beautiful reception, too.
Congratulations, Steven + Lauren! You’re both so sweet…and it was evident that weekend you’ve got a precious set of families backing you up. You’re both so very blessed. We wish you nothing but the very best…with many many years ahead together in a beautiful covenant!
Hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek. Special thanks again to Britsnap, for sharing a few of his fabulous images. {Be sure to check him out here + here!}

What a gorgeous yet simple wedding! I love those kind and you did a great job. I love her dress too and those colors. My brother just got married last weekend and they used more of a coral/peach color that was lovely for outside. We had awesome weather too…it was low 80s at the time of the ceremony…in TN!! How crazy is that?! Anyways, it was a family affair for us too with my hubby doing the ceremony and me a bridesmaid and our 2 year old son was one of the ringbearers but he got pulled in a red wagon. Thankfully he stayin INSIDE the wagon. LOL

Do you have any idea how she made the coloring pages from a photo of themselves?

Ashley, what a beautiful wedding. I love all the natural southern touches as well. If you helped with the flowers, GOOD JOB!! They look so fresh, bright and fun without being overdone. Has anyone ever told you you kind of look like Kristen Bell? At least you do in the “cheesy” photo you posted. I loved your fuschia dress and your boys grey striped pants. Did you buy them somewhere or have them made? i’m looking for some for my son for a fall wedding. I was going to make them but really who has the time?
