From parents to graduates, grandparents and friends… If you’re gearing up with a few of those last minute items for that dorm room looming in the very near future, we thought we’d continue this little mini series with a round up of all things we love for fun & useful dorm room ideas.
From essential, to clever, and a little all out stylish… it’s a collection of fun things we found useful, whether you’re a freshman or a senior… and a little beyond the typical shower caddy/plastic storage/foot locker ideas.
So let’s dive in, shall we?
1. Those mini fridges are essential, especially if you’re living in a dorm room. You can find a used one on Craigslist and paint it up with our tutorial here or if you’re pushed for time, Amazon can deliver it to your door. I know, right? Who knew.
2. Magnetic stickers for all those forever-hard-to-find grooming accessories? Yes, please. And we’re not even sharing a bathroom with roomies. Unless you count those little intrusive ones called the offspring… they have no boundaries.
3. MDF + Plexiglass = a memo board in any size… and the possibilities are kinda endless. Check out our tutorials here and here.
4. A bedside cup holder that clips to the side for limited spaces? Um, yes.
5. An easy piece for over the bed with major storage.
6. Laundry bags that stay open and hang prettily? Absolutely.
7. To make getting ready a little bit easier.
8. Our polkadot pillow for a fun project and easy bedding piece.
9. This planner and tabs are our favorite. Along with our free fillers to fit them for 2014 + 2015 here. Love stylish study digs? Check out more in another round up, here.
10. If you have a little time, a pouf is always a handy place to work/rest/play and adds a little style to your new home away from home.
11. Have you spied the new Wallternatives line from Royal Design Studio? Removeable wallpaper, y’all. Oh, and adorable things like this for temporary adhesives when it’s just not allowed…
And here’s another little idea we cooked up here, for turning your jewelry into decor...
12. So adorable, that I kind of want one for me. Particularly amazing if you have special items you’d like to keep away from intrusive roomies…
13. A dish rack that’s perfect for tight spaces.
14. No, record players are not essential. But they add a whole lot of ambiance. And this one works with MP3 players. Compact and oh so cute.
15. One of the best things my parents sent me to college with, was a sewing kit. And a first aid kit. And a… you get the drift.
16. Because we’re shameless, and I would have killed someone for these when I was in college. Two trips are for wusses. Seriously, the best invention ever. I think I’ll buy some anyway.
17. If you’re looking for fun and easy wall decor, this is the part where we shamelessly mention our books. It’s an insta collection for your walls at an oh so affordable price… with über talented, amazing artists. A super fun way to inspire and add instant charm with their home away from home.
18. Bowls that fit like a charm. Because not everyone has that space.
19. A great affordable option for storing items in tight spots... from your makeshift pantry to books and bath products, the possibilities are kinda endless.
PS, be sure to check out these fun mats here. We found them and had to include!

What’s something you would absolutely have for your dorm room if you could do it all over again? Personally, I’d start with a little style. {For those of you who spied our post, yesterday} ;}
What would you recommend if you’re there now? And if you’re getting your second chance {with your kids} what’s something you made sure they had?
We’ve love to hear your recommendations! Have an inspired day!
