Happy Friday, lovely creatives! If you’re anything like us, you guys are getting geared up for a fabulously long weekend. Hurray for Labor Day!
Today, I thought I’d share a quick little project…one that’s perfect to keep those fingers busy, that you can even do with your kiddos during a lazy weekend before you plant a few fall annuals. You might already have the supplies at home. And those are the very best kind.
You probably already know I love a touch of a few things jute wrapped in our home.
The other day I was cleaning our house and I was in the mood to fix this little guy. It’s probably almost time for me to transplant him…we actually purchased him one afternoon at Walmart, when we were choosing some succulents for our home.
Aiden spied this little guy on the brink of death, and it was a total pity buy. Yep. Once upon a time I also purchased dented cans and sad looking Christmas trees all in the name of equal opportunity. Call me Phoebe. Then I had kids and got over it. And now they do it. Weird…I’m sure it’s some kind of awesome mental disorder. I mean, if this is our cray cray then at least it’s helping inanimate objects…
But Aiden is so proud at how great “Pointy” looks now.
Pointy’s cheapo container was totally on my nerves, and I don’t have anything to switch him to yet, so I whipped out the jute, hot glue gun, scissors + the selvaged edge of a bit of linen I had.
Securing it in various places as I went with the glue gun {It was slippery on this pot}. I wrapped it until it was covered…and then added a simple touch with a flair of fabric. Careful not to burn those fingers!
Tada! We’re so kind to homeless, naked, dying cacti. They should totally name a grant foundation thingy after us. To encourage people to save dying cacti at Walmarts everywhere.
It’s the little things.
What have you wrapped in jute lately?
Have a safe + super fun weekend, awesome people!

So cute! Way to go saving that poor cacti! I have seen people wrapping empty glass sauce jars. Like spaghetti sauce jars in jute. I may try that soon and use it as a vase.

I love some jute, in my home as well. I’ve been meaning to try more on jars and other things. I will have to give it a go this weekend. This is a great idea to give something a new look. Do you think normal twine or rope would work, too? Maybe in different colors!

Seriously Ashley…I wish we lived in the same town. I do so like you! đ
Ps. I do the same thing around here. Posted a pic of my house on fb yesterday, and if you look closely, you will see a lampshade that I got tired of seeing the way it was and juted it at well! Yeah girl! Get juting! (Um…can we make that a verb, cause I’m totally feelin it!) Juting!

Could you please re-post your “25 fonts” post you did on 9.3.12….. it’s not showing up on your blog. This 8.31.12 post on the jute is the last thing showing on the blog, even though I was notified in Google Reader that you had a new post. Thank you.
