creepy crawly halloween wreath

Hey Guys! We’re back today to share another fun project with Command Brand Hooks!

We decided to make this not-so-creepy wreath for our door this fall. The kids love this time of the year, and we decided to get into the spirit of things with them and some fun door decor! This wreath was made with things we already had around our home, and a few spiders we scooped up at the local party store. Here’s how we did it:

We took the kids into the back yard, and let them gather some twigs. When they had enough gathered, we sat down and found seven that were similar, and not too wonky to work with. We then took the center of an old spool of ribbon (for the center) and placed all the twigs in position. {Helpful hint: Make sure your little piece of circular cardboard isn’t too deep… the smaller the better for this project} We secured each one with a combination of wood + hot glue. The Hot glue was for immediate placement while the wood glue dried.

When this was finished, we flipped over the wreath, and gave it a quick coat of white paint.

Once dry, we took some white twine, and until the wreath felt “full” {This was five rows for us} we wrapped the twine around each twig once until a row was created. Then we cut it free, and started on the next. On the back of each one, to make sure it stayed in place, we gave it a small dab of hot glue. Since this will be outdoors, we figured this would help it stay in place a little better.

Also on the back, I took a small piece of ribbon in the center, looped and glued it. This will help in hanging your wreath on our hook.

While that was drying, we spray painted these little rubber guys with a nice coat of gold. We figured it added a touch of glam to our web, and made it not so creepy for any littles that may be coming to our door.

To hang our wreath, we simply followed the directions on the back of our Command Brand Hooks. We took our strip (red side) and pressed it to the back of our hook. When that was attached, we removed the black liner. We pressed it to our {clean door} for ten seconds. (For maximum holding strength, slide your hook off, and press firmly for thirty seconds.) Wait one hour before use, and hang that wreath on your door. Tada!

command outside

The perfect little hook for your door. I’ve always fiddled with the big over-the-door metal hooks, and this was such a breeze. We love the easy little hook… no more annoying scratches! These would also work great in any place you don’t want to put holes on the outside of your home!

  2. Can you take the command hook off the door or will it peel up the paint? Or is it more designed to permanently stay put?
