handmade hideaway – reader love

Over the last few years, we have to say… Some of our very favorite changes to our home have actually been on the outside.

We’ve come a long way, baby. Because once upon a time, it looked like this:

with UPS brown, everywhere.

And then we walled it in with our studio… and it {still} looked like this.

 

Down with the brown, we said. And it became more us, on the outside.

This fun outdoor addition expanded our square footage by taking our living area to the outside, making it feel oh so wonderful to be in that back yard with the great outdoors.

But the kids’ favorite addition, has definitely been our handmade hideaway.

Years’ worth of play, laughter and lots of all around joy.

Since we move in a few weeks, and the great purge-o-rama packing has begun… I think it’s hit them {and us} how much we’re definitely going to miss it. Our only consolation is that we already have our next handmade hideaway dreamed up and in the works. It’s how we roll. And nothing makes us happier than being able to see all the wonderful reader creations that go along with it.

A year ago, we did a wonderful round up of all the awesome reader versions out there that they’ve shared with our hashtag on instagram. When we moved our site over with the launching of our online studio, that post was lost. We still have no idea why, and it was never recovered. There was a bit of the gnashing of teeth because these puppies take a while to round up. So, we did our best to scrounge up some old and new features, along with some of our favorite creations.

Whew! This shall henceforth be known as the longest post ever written. Which is most definitely a good thing. We adore seeing all the cool versions of hideaways everywhere.
