because they do say, after all, that no man is an island. what???
so do any of you guys remember this post not too long ago?
we tackled that one this weekend. I poured over paint swatches for all of ten minutes…and knew what I liked when I spotted it.
We chose Benjamin Moore’s Wedgewood Grey. And aqua blue milkglass. We finished it off with a hand glaze, for an older look.
remember that wasted space from before?
It’s a chalkboard for the kids to sit while I paint cook.
Being mindful of our home’s future owners, we used a substance for the frame, that looks like crown molding, but is much lighter. Almost like styrofoam, but more durable. We (actually a friend of ours-shout out to Abbie) found it months ago, for another project, at Lowe’s. Jamin cut it with the help of his friend, a real life Ty (shout out to Matt!) who is our handy go-to guy. (he secretly hates us) And we adhered it to the island after it was painted, with the help of a level and handy dandy old glue gun. I’ve used glue guns around the house to adhere all kinds of things (shamefully enough) and the stuff comes off quite easily with a little pressure. Props to the Nester for reminding me of that recently.
A little chalkboard paint, and TADA! Hours of entertainment for the kiddies.
If you build it…
The little redneck artists will come.
At least they’re cute naked redneck artists. That last sentence could have encompassed a whole different variety of customers.
In the meantime…I now want to do all of my cabinets. With soapstone countertops and a farm sink with bead board backsplash. The cabinets would be a light antiqued off white.
Much to Jamin’s dismay…yay or nay?
