We’ve had an exciting project in the works for a while now, that we couldn’t be more thrilled or passionate about.
It’s no secret around here that we love La-Z-Boy. Not only for their great design options, but for their good causes, as well.
{Please refresh if the video isn’t loading- it tells a story better than we ever could.}
La-Z-Boy is the official provider for Ronald McDonald House Charities nationwide. They give families of sick children a home away from home during their treatments.
As parents, we can’t even fathom what it must be like to have a child with a serious illness. The world stops when one of our little ones has something like a bad fever, so we do know that it is life altering for families.
But their cause is also something near and dear to our hearts, as Jamin is a childhood cancer survivor. So we know first hand that it’s a big deal. From the moment of that first symptom or diagnosis, even the little things are never the same. Families are searching for their new normal, as they do whatever it takes to help their babies get better.
That’s where Ronald McDonald Houses are pivotal for little ones and their families.
When La-Z-Boy approached us about helping with a local Ronald McDonald House, we literally jumped at the opportunity to help with such a great cause.
Next month, we’ll be working with La-Z-Boy on an install in the Nashville Ronald McDonald house. We’ve chosen their main living area to work with, as it’s a great gathering space for families and main events in the house, as well as their first greeting and counseling area when families arrive.
To be able to help with just a little bit of a family’s experience… to brighten their feelings a little with a happy environment that welcomes them… we simply couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of it.
This may be our most challenging space yet, working to provide sensible solutions while remaining sensitive to the houses’ needs.
And of course, all while adding a little of that design magic that we love.
We’ve been planning and talking and scheming and back-to-the-drawing-board-ing… This space is an important heart of the house, and it’s a chance to breathe new life… a calming, relaxing space for the little patients and their families.
When we look back at why we do things, it’s one of our greatest thrills and pleasures to be able to connect with sweet clients and readers in their homes, and help inspire others.
But to be able to help those in need, is an absolute honor. And we just hope to do it justice.
We can’t wait to get started on it all.
Here’s a little snippet of some things we’ve pulled together. I know in a grouping it doesn’t make much sense, but it’s a big room so stay with us. It’s still a fun sneak peek, right? ;}
We can’t wait to share more as we move along closer to the install date.
Please stay tuned with us on this little adventure!

WOW! What a fantastic project! Our daughter had heart surgery at 5 days in a different city. We were lucky to have family near the hospital she was treated at so didn’t need to take up a room at the Ronald MacDonald House. I think it’s underestimated how busy and full these places get and anything that helps these places become a home away from home is so important… When you don’t know know how long you’ll be in one or what the outcome will be a bit of comfort and niceness helps.

I can’t imagine, Caroline! So so true! I hope your little girl is better? Thinking of y’all!
Caroline says
She’s our little miracle, we are just waiting for her next heart surgery in the Spring (it will be her 3rd and hopefully last till adulthood … She’s only 4 now). But she’s doing so well, thank you for asking, even managed to move to Canada with us, a bit of a change from England! I can’t wait till you share more, I loved the fabric samples. X

Can’t wait to see it. We are big fans of Ronald McDonald house. Our family stayed at the Ronald McDonald house when our daughter was diagnosed with childhood cancer 24 years ago. What a great project for you.

Awe thank you so much Becky. We are honored and so excited to participate. I simply can’t imagine what a parent goes through in something like that – our hearts go out to y’all. We’re so glad you were able to utilize such a great place. Was your little girl able to get better? Thinking of your sweet family.
Becky says
Yes, Ashley, she did. She grew into a remarkable young woman and just recently completed graduate school. We were really blessed. Again, good luck with your project. It will certainly be appreciated by all those families in need.

Beautiful! My daughter was hospitalized three times in a year. The longest was for 12 days and there was a Ronald McDonald family room that was a lifesaver for quick showers and a place to make phone calls. I will always be grateful for that space that allowed me to stay at the hospital round the clock. Bless you for making that space so beautiful!

Awe thank you so much, Carina. Bless them for allowing us to do this. We are very excited to just be a part of such a great cause. Thinking of your sweet daughter – We can only imagine what it’s like to go through something like that. We’ve had brief stays at the hospital and it is just such a crazy, turn-your-world-upseide-down thing, so I can only fathom what you guys went through. I hope your daughter is better? our hearts are with all these children, parents and families!
Carina says

So SO glad, Carina!Thanks so much for letting us know! That may have been an awkward question but I am so concerned about anyone who leaves a comment/reads/drops by to say hi. Life can be hard and drop some surprises, for sure. I just wanted to let you know she’s in our thoughts and prayers.
