They grow too fast, y’all. Truly.
We’ve had a plethora of memories hit us on Facebook lately that make us feel like our lives are flashing before our eyes. I’m saying what every mother says, and every mother says it because it’s true.
Make. Time. Stop.
We once called our oldest baby Buddha because he was full of those sweet baby rolls. He still has the softest skin, if you must know, but this guy just turned twelve. Sixth grade. Lockers. And the girls are taller than me and wear makeup. Much to my immense delight and relief… He loves it. Mama had so much anxiety. It’s hard for parents to take that next step.
She is now nine. If you ask, she’s nine and three fourths. She was eighteen months old when her little brother was born and I didn’t know which was day, and which was night and which way was up. She has come to far in the past year. They’ve all grown so much.
Our youngest, Mr. Blue eyes is eight. He gets longer every day and I keep telling him I’ll put a brick on is head. He’s always taken it in stride, being the youngest. He has the best laugh.
Once upon a time, we definitely had our hands full. When they were younger, I felt as though it would last forever. The days are long but the years are short. Now I say we’re in the golden years where they can prep their own snacks and bathe themselves and buckle themselves in… but they’re not teens just yet. Game changers and sweet spots. If you’ve been reading here for years, they literally grew up on our site. Sometimes, I’m just really glad we have these photos because it all seems like a blur. I want time to stop and I want to remember more. But I want to see what they’re going to do. And who they’ll become. It’s the very best and the worst all at once. A parent’s heart is literally torn.
Sometimes, I look back on those years… the ones where we had graham crackers smeared everywhere, with laundry mountains and all three in diapers. And I wonder how on earth we made it. I made my fair share of huge mistakes, especially in the safety department. Moments were I thought we were totally fine, that came out of the blue.
When they were younger, there were things I took for granted in our routine and everyday lives. It can be oh-so-easy to fall into habit and accidents can happen in a second, changing your life forever. I have my share of mom-fail stories. Things I’m not proud of. Things they’ll {thankfully} only remember because I shared them here. If there’s something we’re truly passionate about, above all else, it’s our children and their well-being. Their health and safety are the most important things to us. Everything else comes in at a distant second.
Why am I sharing sweet photos of my kiddos and making you sit through a mom-fail story? Because it’s Baby Safety Month! While we love design and pretty things, we’re absolutely thrilled to team up with ACI {the American Cleaning Institute} and help share once again, something much more important.
This should absolutely be shared with everyone that you know.
So, what’s the deal?
Liquid laundry packets were first introduced into the North American market in 2012. They’ve become increasingly popular nationwide. However, these highly concentrated packets can cause serious harm to anyone if accidentally ingested or if they come into contact with the eyes. The American Cleaning Institute works closely with industry manufacturers and families to educate everyone about the proper usage, storage and handling of all cleaning products. ACI’s new laundry safety campaign, PACKETS UP! is part of an ongoing initiative to help keep our kids safe and reduce the number of accidental liquid laundry packet exposures in young children.
It is imperative that we treat liquid laundry packets as we would any other household cleaning products and keep them up and out of reach of kids. As a helpful reminder, you can request a free laundry cling for your laundry room to place in a visible spot so you never forget to put laundry detergent away after use. Sometimes it’s the little reminders that help most in the chaos of your daily routine.
So head on over to packetsup.com to request your free cling and spread the word to help everyone you know become more aware of safe laundry habits.
Happy Baby Safety Month, everyone! Take the time to check your home and make sure it’s free of everyday hazards we don’t often think about. Triple check. Trust me. I’ve been there.
