3 easy pillow hacks – If you’ve noticed anything about us, it would be that we’re big fans of all things pillows. We play musical pillows around the house, alongside try-this-pillow-here, switcharoos and seasonal pillow fun. We’re basically gigantic dorks with too much time on our hands. And by we, I mean me. Jamin could care less and just wants to lay on them.
There’s something about a spruce up in a room that comes with the simple element of a fresh look. Or combining a super affordable find, with a splurge, with a handmade addition, all together to give you that one of a kind look in a space. {At least that’s what I’ve been doing in our basement lately, now that we can finally take a moment to breathe again. Because pillows.} Whatever we pick, we know that with three kids and two dogs, they need to be a snuggly array of something simple we can toss on the floor. And have wrestling matches. And lay upon for all things movie marathons… you get the picture – they can’t be high maintenance.
Besides books, pillows are one thing I don’t regret “collecting” because we just repurpose them over and over and over again.
So it got us thinking lately, past, present, and future… about three easy pillow hacks that we’ve tackled and absolutely love, for easy projects. Here’s three that we think are pretty simple and oh so rewarding with the outcome!
1. This easy peasy lumbar pillow. (3 easy pillow hacks)
{I’m laughing as I write this because these posts were initially scheduled differently. But we just featured this photo for the polaroid/instagram frame. What we’re talking about today, is the fabulous pillow in the photo. It’s a twofer.}
It’s so easy, it’s kind of embarrassing. But we’re sharing easier projects here in addition to renovations in addition to stories in addition free printables you may find useful. I don’t know… too much? We just think it’s the little things that make a house a home, and thought you might want to feel inspired. If you can thread the sewing machine, you can sew. I promise guys, it’s the hardest part.
A whole lot of pillow with major character and little work!
Like, sewing one side, work. That’s it. You don’t have to cut and you don’t even really have to measure. So easy peasy.
I grabbed a turkish towel + lumbar pillow = the most awesome gigantic pillow for your fam to fight over when you’re ready for movie night.
You can see all the how-to details here.
2. This simple polkadot pillow with metallic dots! (3 easy pillow hacks)
We’re kicking it up a notch for those of you who want to try your hand at the “poor man’s version” of screen printing. It’s a little fabric, and a pattern on typing paper, and a little cutting.
A great afternoon project with a friend. Also, I still have this poster in storage and really need to bust it back out in the appropriate space.
It {the pillow, not the art} was perfect for Emerson’s room, once upon a time, and one that we still have around the house because we love it so.
You can read all the details in the how to above, along with the free download for this super fun do it yourself.
Gather up a few simple supplies and you’re ready to go!
3. Napkin pillows! (3 easy pillow hacks)
Yes, I have named all the pillows in this round up. Aren’t you impressed with my originality? This one might sound weird, but it’s my recent fave.
We spied these little napkins at Target, and with two, to equal a front and a back, all I could see was pillow.
But I also liked them as napkins. Therefore I was totally torn. So I bought a few for napkins and a few for pillows. Stripes everywhere, y’all. And no, I’m not sorry. Stripes are like polkadots, and neither will ever go out of style. Promise.
So a little character to our basement = winning! {Coming next week!} We literally turned the right sides in, wrong sides out to face each other. Just like a regular old pillow. Then we wewed three sides together, and turning the pillow cover right side out, added the actual pillow filler. We only had the final side left to sew. After we ran a quick seam down the edge…
That was it! Instant pillow!
Tada!
Anything simple is always fun to add with all the elements in a room.
We hope you enjoyed our short and sweet post today. Winning, with fun character!
As always, let us know if you try your hand at a little DIY pillow fun. We’d love to hear!
Have an inspired day!
I am still waiting to see your basement….When are you going to do the big reveal?
MONDAY! I shot it today and am editing photos as we speak! We’re so glad to finally have it all settled! We had some unexpected rug drama. And by unexpected I mean we waited for one on backorder, and when it arrived, it was the wrong size. And then I almost killed over. š WINNING. So it’s coming Monday! ;}
