An odd thing about growing up, is this: Things that once seemed like a chore, turn into stress relief. They can actually provide some downtime, and oddly enough that coveted “me time”.
I (Jamin) remember growing up fighting with my brother over who had to cut the grass on any given week. It was the last thing we wanted to do and we desperately tried to find excuses to get out of it.
Side note: I’m pretty sure my brother tried to break the lawnmower one time after he finished cutting the grass.
I can still picture him standing at the top of the driveway, deciding it would be easier to let the lawnmower go and roll to the bottom of the driveway where the garage was, as opposed to walking it down the driveway. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a push mower move that fast as it launched off the bottom of the driveway and into the woods behind our house.
Things have changed a lot since those days. I’m sure my teenage self is embarrassed by it, but I actually enjoy a little yard work right now. Not sure if that’s age or how much better the tools are. Maybe just a sign of the times.
Recently I was able to try out my new Greenworks mower and fell in love with it. It’s been raining nonstop here in Nashville, and our yard was beginning to look a lot like someone was playing Jumanji, especially when the dogs wandered through. I couldn’t take it any more, and even though mowing wet grass is generally a bad idea I decided to give it a go.
You can see how the mower performed in terrible conditions, below.
Sometimes you need to mow, and this was the perfect solution.
Really though I love this 21-inch battery mower from Greenworks.
It has a dual battery port that switches automatically between batteries, and each battery can last up to 60 minutes on a single charge. The batteries also fit all your other Greenworks 60 v tools for easy use during all your yard work. Talk about a time saver.
This mower is built with a brushless motor that senses terrain changes that require more power, and can even dial it back to conserve power when needed. All without you doing a thing. This helps maintain consistent cutting performance.
For a little more control there is also a turbo button for those patches of grass that are a little tougher.
The display deck allows you to see how much battery is left along with containing the start button and the drive speed, as well as that turbo button.
One of my favorite features of the 60 v mower are the headlights. If you’re anything like me sometimes yard work can get pushed to the end of the day or the early morning hours. Having lights on the mower is a game-changer.
And I know, no one wants to be THAT neighbor, the one everyone hates who mows early in the morning or late in the evening. That’s why not using a gas-powered mower, but a battery-powered Greenworks mower doesn’t make you the talk of neighborhood social media. It’s super quiet and you can run it any time of the day without the worry of someone passive aggressively posting about you.
Storage is also simple with two EZ Fold™ handles that are simple to use.
Just pull, fold, and store the mower in seconds — storing the mower vertically takes up 70% less storage space. Who couldn’t use more space?
The mower has a 4-in-1 system for bagging, mulching, side discharge, or leaf pickup for year-round use.
Cutting, storing, and generally moving the mower around is tremendously easier when compared to a gas mower which has the added weight of engine components.
And, we’ll say it again… a battery-powered tool is much better for the environment. Greenworks also offers peace of mind with the industry’s best manufacturer’s warranty (four-year tool and battery).
At the end of the day, this mower exceeds our expectations and don’t mind us if we can’t sleep and start mowing at 3 am. Because we can.
Our favorite part? You can order one (along with all your Greenworks products) without even leaving the house. Perfect for right now to get ahead on that yard work.
Also, be sure to check out our video tour of the mower!
Have an inspired day!
