TGIF, friends!
It’s been a while since we’ve had an inspiration round up post of sorts, but today I wanted to talk about one of my all time favorite colors that’s back on the rise. I’m ready to bring more of it back into our home.
And I’m not talking about little girls’ rooms and baby nurseries. Purple is a beautiful, diverse color that can be mixed with so many different fun combinations. It can go from cool to warm on the spectrum, and probably received a bit of a bad wrap after its absolute saturation circa 1999. I feel like it kinda dropped off the radar for a while, in my world. So here’s a few photos that inspire me in the color realm that is purple.
I love these deep tones mixed in with lighter hues. Found here.
This lovely light and bright combo found here via Ana Antunes. {cred for both photos}
See it mixed with Navy? Here.
Of course, I adore these deep shots of indigo, magenta + purple with the white. Here.
Love this. Especially with orange. Originally via Elle Decor.
This. Here, it takes on a neutral vibe.
Love these two together, also, I want that lamp.
And these gorgeous combos (photo above, also) from here.
This. {See the entire home, here.}
This {In a kitchen, so fun with whites and naturals}
I had to show one more shot of this rug. I love it paired with that bright red.
This. Love the cabinets. And yes, those are actual lavender subway tiles.
I adore this room. It just feels so effortless.
Very moroccan. Very fun.
The sofa. Swoon.
And this. It could be Barney, but it’s really nice with the map!
How do you guys feel about purple? Do you use it in your home? What about your main living area? Were you burned out on it for a while or are you working it back in? Spill it! We’d love to hear.

I have always loved purple! If I was pregnant with a girl again, I was going to use purple for her room. But I have a boy. However, I’ve been debating on painting a wall in my dressing area a shade of purple but I can’t choose a favorite! Joss and Main has a great collection of teal and purple right now (my favorites!!!).

Funny you should ask! I’ve been mulling over how to incorporate some purple in our bedroom. My husband likes a more regal purple, and is a “jewel tone” lover in general, but our house reflects very few jewel tones because I’m into more earthy hues. I’m thinking I could work with something more along the line of plum, and I love the idea of pairing it with indigo. Thanks for all the inspiration photos!

ooooo love it. Especially with all those warmer tones. So great!

Purple never went out at my house! I have a smokey amethyst couch. Navy and lavender? My wedding colors! Purple brocade bedspread? Yep! I’m glad purple is on the upswing. More goodies for me!

My Grandma’s one bathroom, built in 1960-something, has lavender tiles half-way up the walls. I love them. They can be depended on for happiness when you walk into the bathroom.

What a treat! Thanks for bringing the spotlight onto purple. It’s a color that is often passed over. I LOVE purple and have the color throughout my house. Currently my bedroom is painted a soft lavender but now I’m thinking of going with a more saturated shade. Love it!

We have dark purple walls in our loft – in my husband’s office nook actually – and we love them! It is a nice contrast to the grey walls everywhere else.

Purple has always been a favorite of mine and these are some inspiring ways to use it tastefully : )

I painted my kitchen a dusty purple last year and I love it! But it isn’t accessorized…no pictures, no curtains, just a stainless steel wall clock! Maybe now I’ll be able to find some things to finish it!

You had me at purple……as far back as I can remember it has ALWAYS been my FAVORITE color, I can’t imagine a day where it won’t be. I wear it and I have used it in decorating our home, I can’t get too much of it. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!!

I have a dark gray(almost black) coach called smoke. My curtains are deep red but I have wanted to do a change in the living room. I get Design Seeds. They have had some color combos lately with the almost black, purple, ruby, lavender, blue that are so-o-o beautiful. Now if only I can find curtains in a purple & in the sizes I need.

Just bought purple pillows and a purple throw for my bed. I have never used purple before but I need some color in my all white bedroom and just wanted a soothing purple. I have a pretty grey lampshade, all white furniture with a black and white paisley chair. It needed a pop of color. I think I will like trying out this new to me color.

I’m glad to see purple moving from the silly, tasteless and classless umbrella that interior designers, media and DIY’er’s have held it under for such a long time and finding itself out in the open; a classy, first choice color of many a decorator’s choice. Purple in this decade is not the regally draped dark purple of yore, nor the goofy purplish shade of daytime TV’s Barney. From smoky to jazzy to the lightest of lilacs, it holds its own with neutrals as well a main color accented by brights or pastels and it is doing so famously.
After I saw a smoky plum bedroom with accents of citron, I was so surprised and could not wait to get some into my home. I have and I adore it.

I am glad purple is in the rise too! I am currently working on a purple quilt and have a long purple pinterest board. Purple is regal, royal and has such a depth to it. It can be a decor game changer. And like you said, it wasn’t used for good for a long time. So, hooray for purple!

I have been enjoying your site. I just finished a color wheel collage, stunning!

I don’t know. I’m kind of torn about it. In my youth, I really loved it. Now, purple has to be JUST RIGHT in order to be a hit with me. I DO kind of love the idea of a deep purple bedroom with yellow and teal accents, but I’m not sure my husband would agree and my current bedroom doesn’t have enough light as of now. We’ll see one day!
