When we shared our little rehab on the outside a few weeks ago with Window World, we absolutely loved being able to share how very exciting it was for us.
There’s nothing quite so rewarding as changing the outside of the tired old exterior into something fresh and new. Window World made it so easy, it was like watching a crew of artists restore a forgotten painting into something fresh and new.
This house has been a true labor of love for us and our family, so there was something thrilling about watching that happen. The entire project has been like one big life metaphor for us… at the risk of sounding like a real sentimental dork. It meant so much to us to change it all.
But I did have that OMGAHownerofthehouseonTV moment in the middle of the Window World portion of the makeover, where I teared up a little – it was when that old door came down. We struggled to open it for a year and a half: guests could never wrangle it open, our children fought every day when they hopped off the bus to get into the house, and through the entire renovation it remained.
Until that moment when we were able to take it down.
When the new one went up… it absolutely took my breath away. We feel like it truly tied everything in the new look together! We’re loving the way all these amazing elements have come together for something so beautiful in a classic take on our little split level house.
So, once again, we’re thrilled to share that Window World does so much more than “just” windows. We started out with fresh new windows in the beginning of the renovation, and were floored by how easy the process was, and what a huge difference they made {especially in our kitchen!}.
And now with the fresh siding and awesome new door – we’re officially in love with our house.
My favorite part about decorating for the holidays? Placing a wreath on said door.
So here’s a few fun facts about Window World Doors:
• Window World offers a 10 year finish maintenance warranty.
• You as the customer not only select a door, but “build” a door system based on what you like. From the frame to the door to the hardware – you don’t have to select a preassembled piece…you build your own, all while having a design consultant to assist you with your choices.
• Window World has partnered with Therma-Tru to offer customers a wide selection of the most popular doors available today with some incredible features.
• Their awesome doors offer beauty, durability, security, and are tested to the industry’s highest standards.
• Door styles combine an array of paint, stain, glass, and hardware options to ensure every homeowner will find an entry door to fit their own personal style.
I knew exactly what I wanted when I spied it, and we were thrilled to customize it to fit our home’s needs.
And did I mention the shutters? Oh my word the shutters. Y’all digression, but it’s hard to pick a fave element! They’re all so great.
Our outside rehab is almost complete – You can’t really tell from the photos, but the house was dingy white. And when we added the sharp trim, it just made it dingier.
So we were thrilled that painting is now underway, and we can’t wait to show the end result with columns, fresh new gutters, and landscaping in place.
Have you ever tried Window World? We can’t recommend them more, and think they’re an incredible choice for any home.
If you guys have been with us for a while, especially since the beginning, you deserve a medal for sticking with us through this process. It’s been a long but rewarding one! Stay tuned for the outside when it’s finished… it’s going to be oh so amazing! We’ve fallen in love with the process behind this little house.
It’s been a real adventure.
Have an inspired day!

What color are your shingles? I love your color scheme and would love to use it on our house, but our shingles are a lighter brown and won’t be changed anytime soon.

Hey Michelle! The shingles are a lighter brown, too. {Medium to light}. Ours won’t be changed any time soon either, and I really knew I wanted grays and whites for our main colors, so a great way to tie it in was with the dark blue shutters and wood toned front door. I hope that helps!

Love the black bench on the porch! Can you tell me where you got it? Is it wood or metal? I didn’t see it in your shop. Thanks!
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey Kristie! Thanks so much! We sold it once upon a time but shipping on it became too much for our little company and our small quantities. I am having trouble remembering the brand name and if I do, I’ll leave it here – it’s metal and it’s a great little piece! Hope that helps! ;}

What is your door made of? Paint or stain? Thanks. Loving all the reveals!
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey Laurie – It’s actually almost like a painted-on stain, if that makes sense. But it looks just like a real live wooden door, without the issues of rot, etc. The photos don’t really do it justice, it’s so beautiful in real life! I hope that helps!
