As much as I wish our pool room always looked like this…
It usually looks like this. Right now, it’s actually my makeshift studio for oil painting and stained glass.
{See: Bring on all the projects in my spare time!}
So imagine my excitement when I found this.
Because the flea market struck again!
At first when I walked by it, I was all, “Man I would scoop that puppy up if I had a store”… because honestly while some people see a hunk of junk, I see something Anthro would totally store their hardware in.
But then I circled back around. Because I don’t want or need a store… but what I do have are endless art supplies.
One of my biggest inhibitions when it comes to creating, is constantly having to clean up and get things out and find and repurchase. While I’ve tried storage systems in the past, the biggest thing for me is something that holds things without having to search.
Side note: Items here were salvaged from the local flea market. You guys know my love of all things found… but for this trip, rule no. 10 definitely applied.
So of COURSE, I had to bring it home. This thingofabob is actually a mechanic’s rotabin. I found it after googling GIANT LAZY SUSANS with no luck. You can see it in our video today, but each little area rotates independently so that makes it so fun.
I placed it on a giant rug mat for now, so that I can pull it in and out as needed. I may end up moving it to another spot I have, but for now… it’s perfect here. And it holds ALL my major art supplies.
At first our kids were like, “why tho”. Then they spied how I’m using it and I think even they’re mesmerized with it’s independently turning sections.
This is definitely a vintage version, and I love the green patina. But brand new at this size, rotabins retail for over 1k. So imagine my excitement when I scored it here for less than 1/5 of the price?!
Hey- they say one man’s trash…
And I definitely found my treasure.
For now it’s super handy and just what I needed.
Sometimes, it’s fun to share the little finds that make your day and are a little different. Trivia note: We started this whole site sharing little ideas along with refinishing and selling furniture… so sometimes it’s fun to revisit that.
BTW, while it didn’t clean up PERFECTLY {It was pretty grungy} I did wipe it down repeatedly with a good round of clorox wipes. That will save me from tetanus, right? I kid it’s not that bad.
And that’s the story of how I found this not-so-little-guy to hold my immediately needed, go-to supplies.
So my point with all this is to share my crazy idea that works for me… and to say don’t ever stop thinking outside the box when it comes to your home!
You never know what you’ll find at the Nashville Flea Market!
What are some of your favorite finds? You know we’d love to hear. Have an inspired day!
