The other day, we were feeling kinda crafty, and decided it would be a great idea to work on a few easy Halloween treats for kids, a-la the kitchen. It was absolute chaos, and we had a blast. We ended up making four simple Halloween “creatures” together and thought that today would be an easy way to share what we did – with fun colors, galore. Because ’tis the season for sugar overloads.
The thing that we love the most about all of these little creatures is to make them into said “creatures”, the ingredients you need with each one will be the same. And they’re super easy for all things impending parties. So without further ado: easy Halloween treats for kids!
easy Halloween treats: Marshmallow Blobs
What you’ll need:
• marshmallows {large}
• sprinkles
• food coloring of choice – for brighter, use the neon colors
• candy eyes
• white chocolate
Melt your chocolate using a double boiler or microwave, per the instructions on the back of your chocolate. Mix in color of choice. Dip the marshmallows and allow to dry on wax paper. Use eyes/sprinkles accordingly. Tada! Marshmallow monsters.
You can even add little straws/sticks for easier dipping, and the whole “cake pop” look.
They’re perfect for parties!
Total side note: this is what happens with the 13-year-old is left on his own to create his version of easy halloween treats. I have to say, the sprinkle nipples made us laugh.
Yes, I did just write sprinkle nipples.
easy Halloween treats: 2. Zombie Pumpkins
What you’ll need:
• pretzels – we used gluten free
• green M+M’s
• orange food coloring – {yellow + red = orange}
• marshmallows {large}
• candy eyes
• white chocolate
Melt your chocolate using a double boiler or microwave, per the instructions on the back of your chocolate. {Quickly} mix in the orange. Dip your pretzels and while the white chocolate is drying on a surface like wax paper, add the critter eyes + green m+m at the top. Winning!
These are a personal fave of mine – if you’ve ever had chocolate dipped pretzels you know how delicious they are.
The perfect mix of salty and sweet.
Tada! Your little critters are perfect for a party. Or just because.
Sometimes, we really like the just because, too.
easy Halloween treats: 3. Sugar Monster Cookies
What you’ll need:
• Our fave recipe is here – but you can also use slice and bake for a quick fix.
•food coloring of choice – for brighter, use the neon colors
• candy eyes
• white chocolate– or frosting {see recipe}
To kick off this easy Halloween treat simply bake your cookies and whip up your fave frosting topper or melted white chocolate with food coloring of choice. Then place your candy eyes however you wish. Instant little monsters to eat!
easy Halloween treats: 4. Oreo Goblins
• Oreos – we love double stuff {1 pkg}
• cream cheese {16 ounce}
•food coloring of choice – for brighter, use the neon colors
• candy eyes
• white chocolate– or frosting {see recipe}
Mix together 1 package cookies with one package cream cheese. Form into balls on wax paper, and place in fridge to chill for an hour. Melt white chocolate + mix in food coloring of choice. Dip balls into the white chocolate and coat, placing back on wax paper to dry. Optional: drizzle with contrasting color. Place candy eyes and chill again.
They’re absolutely delicious!
The perfect little goblin treat.
We hope you enjoyed our little craft-with-food-for-kids today and the super simple easy Halloween treats. And that you can use some of them for the upcoming events!
They’re easy to tweak for whatever holiday, as far as we’re concerned.
The kids probably had a little too much fun.
As always, let us know if you make these. We’d love to hear! And let us know some of your favorite easy Halloween treats.
Have an inspired day!
