We didn’t really do a fall tour this year because of all the craziness going on with our addition being so close to finished, along with some work things we had going on. While I’m a little bummed about it, I also think it’s fun to share little snippets at a time for all things spaces in and around our house. Sometimes, it’s nice just to do a little less when you need to. Today we’re oh so happy to join some of our fave people {check out more of that below} and share a little hop of outdoor spaces! Here’s our little fall porch.
This house has come a long way since we first found it. We still have a lot of work in front of us, but one of our very favorite seasons is when the weather starts to change. {Even if I do fight it for a bit on my end since I do truly love summer.}
This year, we went with simple additions in subtle colors.
This is just to give you a little bit of an idea as to how far we’ve come – what our house looked like when we found it nearly four years ago. We actually have some fun plans for this front area of our little 1976 split level house, to bring a little more balance to the architecture. We’ll be focusing on the outside this fall with our projects. So we can’t wait to show you where we’re headed with that.
We love our haint blue porch ceiling and the fun it adds!
Franklin is known for its historical areas, and haint blue was a must have for us in our outside renovation with window world.
This year, I skipped the mums, mixing in a few of our other plants {that we’ve kept alive since spring, btw – huge props to us}. Just say no. I always murder them within a month. Back pats and stuff on resisting temptation.
This time, we planted these Upright Stonecrops. Green thumb, I have not, so they’re nice and hearty like succulents. I love them so much, I may bring them in for the winter instead of letting them die, just to see how they do.
For some color, we also added Moss Rose. But they close at dusk – so the photos don’t do them justice. + Cheyenne Spirit – the big tall guys you see in the photo here. Just FYI, they are bee magnets this time of year. I took one for the team when picking these puppies out at the nursery the other day because a bee was just enjoying his day when my hand apparently invaded his space.
Oh and be sure to check out our how to for these really fun metallic fairytale pumpkins.
They’re our go-to every year and we do love the simple bright look that you can customize in any way you wish.
Our porch is small but mighty. We love sitting here with our youngest in the morning before he catches the bus, since he’s our lone elementary schooler this year. {Hold me.}
The back is coming along nicely, and we can’t wait to show you oh so soon! You may have caught it in our stories, but shakes and finishing touches were added this last week.
SOON. SOOOOOONNNNNN.
Bonus round: before and after of the side of our house, too! It’s always fun to share how far we’ve come.
Details on the inside before and after can be found here.
+ Our entire window world makeover with all the details on all that we chose, are here.
Outside, you’ll find our handmade hideaway. It’s one of our very faves and you can find the original here + this version here.
