We’re back with another installment of The Handmade Home freebies!
Since our kids have been pretty young, we’ve loved doing activities like this with them.
We think that taking time to be Thankful isn’t just important… it’s an essential habit to surviving as an adult. And since we’re nearing Thanksgiving, we thought that this would be the perfect time of year to share a thankful tree.
This is a bit of a revamped post… a blast from the past if you will. But we thought this would be as good a time as any to get our kids to share some of the things that they’re thankful for.
We simply found a large and in charge jar, and gathered some twigs from the yard.
I painted little stripes on each one as a way to brighten it up and give it a little character this year.
The kids then take a leaf {available below} and after it’s cut, write what they’re thankful for, on the back.
Malone gladly posed for his, he’d just gotten back from tacky day at school, so his hair was looking amazing…
The idea is to fill the branches as much as you can with sweet thoughtful thankfulness.
I included lots of shapes, and easy ones too in case the cutting is too much. The basic ones mixed in with the more complicated are fun. We just added a dab of hot glue and wrapped the end of the leaf around the branches.
And this year, we thought we’d provide the leaves ourselves.
Lots of color and a nice little object lesson for kids of every age… we love this project every year.
