handmade savvy saturday
It’s the craziest time of the year. This spring included everything from braces off for the youngest and getting his driving permit and sports, to multiple events for our middle, along with a string of college visits and testing. Our oldest has just moved home for the summer after his first year of college, and it feels like we just moved him in, so that was just a little chaotic for us rookies, but we’re grateful that summer is close. We love having our kiddos at home. This time is bittersweet. I told a friend who is teaching her youngest to drive that we were going through that phase, too, with our youngest. {Insert prayer hand emojis here}. Her reply was, “You mean it doesn’t get any easier?” As a parent, it seems that you hit lots of phases at once in this stage with your kiddos. Sure, that happened when they were younger. One would be teething while the other was potty training while another stopped sleeping through the night…This time, the stakes are raised. A client who is also a therapist by profession told us this week that the phases with parenting are broken down into cop {younger years}, to coach {teenage years}, to consultant {college and beyond}. The coach-to-consultant part can be kinda tricky at times, though I do feel like I need a medal for moving successfully out of the cop phase since some people never do that. Anyway, I shared a little about what really matters this week on Instagram, because it can be easy to lose sight when we’re bogged down -my posting has been just a little slower. I’ll be back with more next week!
